A strong trust climate between all airspace operators is key to integrating UAS into busy airspace. On the Palisades Fire, we watched CAL FIRE successfully operate UAS, with helicopters flying below it and air tankers flying above it. Please take some time to listen in on the evolution of sUAS and the technology’s implication and impact on warfare. The evolution of drone platforms is rapidly changing combat operations. Security professionals should take note. These demonstrated and proven outcomes have impact on legacy security planning and operations. The security playbook is outdated. It’s time to build the “air domain” into comprehensive security program development. Additinally, military planners should consider all domains of drone technology in the planning process— at every level and echelon. Getting the “ground game” in order before an “air domain” event is a smart move.
