Great talk by Sabine Specht, raising awareness about neglected tropical diseases, which cause a huge burden among the poorest communities mostly in Africa. Very informative, introducing the concept of repurposing veterinary drugs for human use as an efficient and cost-saving approach for developing much needed effective treatments. #NTDs #infectiousdiseases #Onchocerciasis #riverblindness #sciencetalk
What an incredible experience at this years TEDxGVAGrad „Seeds of Change“, giving a voice to patients affected from #NTDs. Huge thanks to the amazing TEDxGVAGrad team, especially Jessica Peery Viggers and Frédéric Ojardias for your dedication and making this day so special. Met so many inspiring people who motivate me to be resiliant, never give up and keep pushing forward. As a TED talks fan, I`m thrilled to be part of this community! #TEDx #Inspiration #resilience #NTDs #DNDi

Check out Andy Bobowski's TEDx talk!! When it comes to low-resourced students, we know that a great education can only do so much to close the opportunity gap. Students need avenues for social mobility and financial capital, which is exactly why Backrs exists. https://lnkd.in/gajhjmtX

Two years ago I gave my TEDx talk on the endocannabinoid system. Funny story about the experience. When you do a TEDx you are with several other speakers. You all practice together and these talks are TIGHLY scripted = everyone gets to hear everyone else's talks MANY MANY times as do the administrators of TEDx. Before we were giving our final talk, all the speakers were in the green room and I told everyone that my TEDx would NEVER make the bigger TED platform. They laughed and joked that "of course it would" as they had all heard my talk multiple times. Nothing controversial in it at all, EXCEPT that I discuss the importance of the endocannabinoid system. Well guess what happened? We do our talks. Most speakers want to use their talk for marketing purposes or for their non-profits, etc, so everyone was concerned and pressuring UT to get the video to big TED and get them up. All the videos began appearing on the website except for mine. All the speakers became concerned when ONLY my video was not up on the site. I decide to press TED for a reason. They only reason given was that I had somehow "violated a policy". The other speakers were SHOCKED that I had called it and also SHOCKED that TED would CENSOR someone. This shows you that POWER of censorship. This show you that people really do try to CONTROL the narrative. Cindy Paul and myself have personally experienced this SHUT UP and SIT DOWN narrative many times. For me, this just FUELS my fire and tell me I am OVER THE TARGET. It takes all of us to break down this walls! hashtag #LetsGo https://lnkd.in/gEqquqaG
