🙄Oh goody, more consolidation within the manufacturer space that will surely reduce the price of the therapies for endocrine and related diseases 🙄 (are you listening @FTC?) But let's just continue to let the hospitals, pharmacies, PBMs, health plans and the broker/consultants take the heat for the price of brand pharmaceuticals in the United States 🙄 .It is well past time for the pharmaceutical manufacturers to explain why the United States pays 333% more, on a net basis, than all other tier-one countries. Reform is desperately needed in the pharmacy ecosystem, but the manufacturers must acknowledge the major part they play in manipulating the system and start actively participating in solutions. Gilead Sciences, a biopharmaceutical company, agreed to acquire CymaBay Therapeutics, a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on improving the lives of people with liver and other chronic diseases, for $4.3bn. AbbVie, an American pharmaceutical company, completed the acquisition of Landos Biopharma, Inc., a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company, for $212m. "Many people living with IBD are not able to achieve or maintain remission and continue to experience debilitating symptoms. The addition of NX-13 complements our portfolio in immunology and strengthens our collective efforts to transform standard of care. CymaBay Therapeutics CBAY 0.14%increase; green up pointing triangle  shares jumped nearly 25% and hit a new record high in early trading Monday after the clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company agreed to be acquired by Gilead Sciences GILD -0.69%decrease; red down pointing triangle  for $4.3 billion.Gilead is paying $32.50 a share in cash for CymaBay, a roughly 27% premium to Friday’s closing price of $25.69 and well above CymaBay’s prior all-time high of $26.35 reached during Friday’s session.
