Do you do a white balance check before filming? White balance is crucial in video (and photography) because it ensures that colours appear accurate and true to life in your footage. Here's why it's important: 🌈 Colour Accuracy: Different light sources emit light with varying colour temperatures. For instance, indoor lighting tends to be warmer (more yellow or orange), while daylight is cooler (more blue). If you don't adjust the white balance, your footage might appear too warm or too cool, distorting the colours of your subject. 💪 Consistency: Consistent white balance across all your shots maintains visual coherence throughout your video. Inconsistent white balance can be jarring for viewers and disrupt the flow of your narrative. Emotional Impact: White balance affects the mood and tone of your video. A warm white balance might evoke a cosy, intimate atmosphere, while a cooler white balance might convey a sense of detachment or coolness. 🎥 Post-Production Efficiency: Correcting white balance issues in post-production can be time-consuming and may not always yield perfect results. Hello friends, this is my first post on Linkedin. As shown in the description, I am interested in arts, particularly photography and videography. On this post, I will share some of my viewpoints toward the two that I have mentioned. I hope to get better approach to artists who share the same thoughts on this topic. Regarding photography, I think it is all about light management. Many people claim that we should buy such up-to-date gears and gadgets, but I do not think so. Obviously, better devices can be beneficial; however, it depends mostly on the user's skills. One of them is light management. By being in charged of light, we can make our works become more in-depth as well as artistic. Bad lighting can cause uncomfortable feelings to the viewers. So, mastering the fundamental is recommended! When it comes to videography, I believe that it relies heavily on the mindset of the videographer. The scene and the angle of the shot could be set based on the videographers' beauty sensitivity, experience, and perspectives. Thus, there is no standard for videography judgement. But, there are things that should be noticed, for example composition, foreground and background, and angles. Thanks for reading my personal sharings.
