WHAT WILL YOU DO IF THE PERSON YOU PICKED AS SECRET SANTA IN THE OFFICE IS NOT SOMEONE YOU GET ALONG WITH? Sometimes, you might find yourself picking a Secret Santa for someone you don’t exactly get along with. 🎁 But that’s the beauty of the holiday spirit—it's about spreading kindness and joy, not just deepening relationships. Here are a few tips I used in handling it gracefully when I found myself in such situation: 1️⃣ I kept the gift thoughtful but neutral—something universally appreciated - a gift card with some money on it which is what i gave 2️⃣ I approached the exchange with kindness and positivity. 3️⃣ I refused to overthink it—Secret Santa is about fun and goodwill, not resolving conflicts. 4️⃣ I had to respect personal boundaries, and kept things light and simple. Whatever the issues and differences we had were resolved much later. The gift made room for me. Wishing you all a wonderful holiday season, filled with warmth and cheer! 🎄✨ Please, share if you have been in such situation so that we can learn from you too. My name is Victor. I assist businesses in addressing workplace challenges to promote growth for both employees and the organization, creating a more supportive environment for everyone. #SecretSanta #HolidaySpirit #Kindness #Gratitude #WorkplaceCulture #21dayslinkedinbrandingchallengewithDamiOguntade

It's October, and Halloween is in full swing—candy in bulk, pets dressed up in adorable costumes, pumpkins waiting to be carved—spooky season is officially here. But at DRG, there’s something even scarier than haunted houses or an empty candy bowl. Here’s are 2 terrifying donor relations practices to steer clear of: 1. The Data-less Dungeon Making decisions without data sends shivers down our spines! It's 2024, y'all! There's no reason to guess what our donors want and don't want from us, or if our programs are effective. Think about it—we’re a society full of opinions these days. We like and dislike social media posts daily. We read reviews before we buy anything, from skincare to air fryers, and even rate ride-share drivers. Thanks to QR codes and the like, obtaining donor feedback is easier than ever. Surveys can be included with endowment reports and as part of event follow-up. Remember that once we've asked for feedback, we have to use it to drive our decisions. Brief surveys with carefully crafted questions get us the answers we need to make informed decisions—without any hocus-pocus! 2. The Communication Crypt It's time to stop using one medium exclusively for donor communication. Print materials and handwritten notes certainly still have a place. However, the days of "paper-only" should be a thing of the past. Digital delivery is effective for everything from gift acknowledgments to impact reports. If that makes you nervous, think about your own information consumption. Where do you spend more time? Going through the mail you receive or on your phone? And before you say, "our donors are different" or "our donors prefer print," please revisit #1 on this list. Have you actually asked your donors for their preferences? Also, don’t overlook the power of video. You don't have to invest in production to create impactful videos—simple messages captured on a phone can be great ways to communicate with donors on a personal level, or en masse. Don't label older donors as “fraidy-cats” when it comes to technology. Video calls and messaging apps allow senior donors to stay connected to friends and loved ones. A video or text from us won't give them a fright. Does your organization feel like a haunted house? We hope not! But if you need more help, read our blog with all 8 Frightening practices to avoid. https://ow.ly/Uq7F50TTyJ6

Sometimes, I read articles like this and I wonder WHO TF are the people they are writing about? I mean, I feel like I may have observed this behavior outlined as "gift giving don'ts" at some point, but I have quickly excised those people from my life. There are few more uncomfortable experiences than receiving a gift and feeling immediately compelled to "perform" in a certain way to satisfy the giver. If you have a gift to share with me and your joy in giving is contingent on my reaction to that gift, just don't do it. I'll save you the time and money right now because I will 💯 disappoint you. Those who know me well know that the BEST gifts, those that bring forth feelings of deep gratitude that I can call on throughout the year when I feel alone or that nobody "gets me," are the small, heartfelt tokens that cost next-to-nothing, but somehow express that the item truly promoted you to think of me in the moment you saw it. And absolutely do not make it occasion-based. I've never been comfortable with these scheduled displays of consumerism tied to the calendar; they ultimately feel arbitrary and impersonal. It also cannot be said enough that these suggestions will make your holidays more inclusive for autistic friends and family members. Giving is not a competition, but too many people think of it as such. If your goal is to "win" Christmas by putting your ostentatious displays of generosity front and center, I can assure you, many people you already know will be more impressed if you follow these guidelines. You can win Christmas by exercising restraint and empathy, and save your pocketbook at the same time. Umbrella US #TheWeirdOnes https://wapo.st/3OSpq1j

🎁What are some of your 𝗳𝗮𝘃𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗴𝗶𝗳𝘁𝘀?🎁 Recently, I visited my client's place to do a review of the family's finances. 🍽️Since she was cooking for her 4 young kids, she asked if I would like a share and join them for dinner. 😋I gladly accepted the treat! 👍It tastes so good to enjoy a warm cozy dinner with those you care. Over the years, we have all receive a fair share of gifts. ⭐I always like personalised gifts specially prepared by the givers. ⭐It always warm my heart to know that the gift is prepared with love and to show appreciation of me. There is so much for me to learn from my experience. As a financial consultant, we often gift our clients. 🙅♂️However, for the longest period of time, I always gave very typical gifts during special occasions, just like every other financial consultant. You can almost guess that you will 👉receive a card or a cake on your birthday. 👉card or red packets during Chinese New Year 👉card for Christmas 👉mooncakes during Mid-Autumn Festival For Mid-Autumn Festival, my top producer friend gave something very different to her clients. ✅Instead of mooncakes and teas, she gave lanterns to her clients with kids. ✅Just from her gift, she easily stood out among her peers. Novelty of gifts can impress. ❌However, if you receive the same gift all the time, ❌end up with plenty of them without a space to store them, ❌and no chance to use them, Is this present really better than a specially curated gift from a loved one? What is your most memorable gift?
