Analise Stohr and Jim Kemaszewski, a scholarship recipient and a donor, respectively, didn’t know each other before the The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Arizona State University Hearts and Scholars Dinner this spring. But by the time they left, they’d become fast friends. Stohr embarked on her college career without much support from her family. “I’ve had to take on all of that responsibility myself,” she explained. “And so I’ve worked two jobs during school. This scholarship in particular has been impactful because this is the first semester I’ve ever not had to work. I got an opportunity to pursue my career that I wouldn’t have been able to do otherwise.” As a donor, Kemaszewksi deeply believes in supporting students. In his words, “In order to thrive, students need a vision for their lives. They need to have goals – where they want to go, how they want to get there – but they also need resources and support. Often we’re reluctant to ask for help. But in reality, asking for help not only helps us, it also helps the people that we’re getting help from. Everybody benefits.” Stohr received the Arizona Society for Coatings Technology scholarship. If you’d like to support students like her, please visit https://ow.ly/N6Tz50SA13Q
