🗣 For International Women's Day 2024, I hope brands talk about themselves less. Watching advocacy days become a hollow shell of the issues they represent can be disheartening. Systemic gendered issues exist well beyond the corporate echo chamber, and good intentions - particularly those contained to one fleeting day of value signalling - are not nearly enough. Rather than screaming into the void of branded cupcakes and forced team photos, I suggested some more impactful alternatives to PRWeek UK: 🗻 Less tip, more iceberg: Put substance before symbolism by internally engaging with issues of pay equity, unconscious bias, and boardroom representation through education, accountability, and dialogue. 👭 Outsource expertise: Rather than pigeonholing the most senior female in your office, amplify the insights of external experts and diverse perspectives. 👊 Put your money where your mouth is: Put the time and resources required for a (lackluster) branded exercise towards organisations actively tackling systemic gendered issues. 🌍💪 As we commemorate International Women's Day, it's crucial to reflect on the importance of creating a world where women and children can thrive free from any form of violence including family violence. Every individual deserves to grow up in an environment that nurtures their potential and fosters their well-being. When women and children are safe from violence within their homes, the benefits reverberate throughout society: 1.    Empowerment: Freedom from violence empowers women to pursue their ambitions, contribute to their communities, and reach their full potential without fear or limitations. 2.    Health and Well-being: Living in a violence-free environment promotes physical and mental health, allowing individuals to lead fulfilling and productive lives. 3.    Education: Children who grow up in safe environments are better able to focus on their education, unlocking opportunities for personal growth and future success. 4.    Economic Prosperity: When women are not held back by violence, they can fully participate in the workforce, driving economic growth and stability for families and communities. 5.    Social Cohesion: Communities thrive when every member feels safe and respected. By prioritizing the eradication of family violence, we foster stronger bonds and create a more inclusive society. On this International Women's Day, let's reaffirm our commitment to creating a world where women and children can grow, learn, and succeed without the shadow of violence. Let's imagine transforming ecosystems of care where interconnections between people are the focus, where capabilities growth is as much about unlearning for some as it is about learning for others and where communities are places to drive change. Let's also then imagine mental health research translation becomes more about the actions that grow these things...

A Message From Gerard Escamilla Respect and love to all women today, March 8th - International Day of The Woman - Women worldwide will connect to celebrate and honor women past, present, and future, in many exciting ways. Amazing women celebrities, athletes, political leaders, and experts will speak about women’s issues today. On this day women will “Celebrate, Commit, and Connect.” They'll celebrate like never before ~ connect as only women do ~ and commit to improve in 3 areas of their lives: 1. Personal ~ improve their personal health and well being, and their businesses as employees, business owners, entrepreneurs. 2. Family ~ help their families be healthier and prepare for the future right now. 3. Country ~ let their voices be heard: to speak up, to make positive changes in their communities/countries. 4. Whether they’re coming together to fight climate change, or starting their own businesses through savings and lending groups, women often lead on the solutions that help people overcome poverty. 5. All of us–women and men alike–can help by supporting women’s efforts to claim their legal rights, live free from violence, earn a decent income, get an education, grow food for their families, and make their voices heard in their communities and beyond.
