I hope people in the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority and in the board rooms of the now six member High Value Manufacturing Catapult network see this Christmas image and, along with local and national politicians ask: how did we reduce a 130 strong team of very talented civil nuclear energy researchers at the publicly funded, but now effectively closed, Nuclear AMRC to just a handful of very brave and determined people, led by Andrew Storer, trying to salvage something from the wreckage? The bulk of the Nuclear AMRC staff have now been made redundant with around 40 others deemed a good fit finding themselves transferred to The University of Sheffield AMRC in the hope of re-starting their abruptly derailed careers. Sadly, earlier this month, they were stunned to hear that the Chief Executive Officer of the The University of Sheffield AMRC, Steve Foxley, was himself quitting the organisation they had just been parachuted into. Imagine the shock. Perhaps it is time we heard from Steve, who declared himself “incredibly sad” to leave and from his close colleague and fellow CEO Andy Storer about what has happened in Sheffield and its ramifications for two of the region’s most influential innovation assests. Perhaps Labour Mayor, Oliver Coppard, and the Sheffield Council Leader, Tom Hunt, could establish an independent public inquiry into the events of the last six weeks — or extend it to six years to encompass the “sudden departure “ of the AMRC founders and its first CEO — to hear all sides of the story so that we can learn the lessons for the future of such important innovation assets. After all, South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority and Sheffield City Council have pumped £14,000,000 of ratepayers’ money into building a new research arm at the The University of Sheffield AMRC at the very time when the council is projected to overspend its budget by £34 million in 2024-25, spread across key service areas that include education, homelessness, and adult social care. In that light, one might question whether a cash strapped local authority was wise to be spending £7million on an R&D facility to accelerate aircraft production in the USA with no public promise of jobs in Sheffield, beyond 30 new researchers for the facility. Perhaps the financing of the facility should have been left to either the private sector or The University of Sheffield to fund? Fred Perry Phil Rodrigo

#HopeYouFindSomethingUseful It's been both a blessing and a previledge to be chosen as a very first fruit in the field of Instructional design representing my country, Cambodia. I never dared to have a dream to afford quality education. In these past two years, God has called me to transition from an educator to an instructional designer. Doors have been opened one at a time. I've obtained my Cambridge Diploma in Education, Master In Business Studies, Micro Master in Instructional Design and Technology. Not only that, I have had an opportunity to study License Professional Certificate in Instructional Design and Online Learning from the very first Vocational Training School authorized by the State IDOL Academy. This is what happens and please it takes efforts and consistency. You might have read few forums like reddit mentioning the negative insights about paying for schooling and gave up half way. IDOL is not a one-size-fit-all school where they spoonfeed you. They are there like a family to train, support, and cheer you up when you're at your lows. We do-it-the-messy and we fail to grow better. Cut the story short, In January, I've been awarded by Australian government to travel to Australia for an exchange to explore how we can contextualize the current technology availability and design better instructions to improve the learning experiences. Forward a bit, I've successfully landed my first career locally in Instructional Design after being trained at IDOL for five months. I've assisted my boss to work on a grant proposal funded by USAID, and we got selected to the final assessment stage, and there are more to talk about. You would have said "Come on, you're just too clever." I do not think so. I've failed a lot in life and in the fear of competition". My success defined by two things: Consistency and Efforts to learn something you do not know. What keep me going are the people i am accountable to, the mentors, the coaches, and my study buddies They always encourage me to look how far I've walked on this journey that I shouldn't give up on this dream. And above all, the God I believe in. Thanks for reading until this part. You may or you may not. I am not here to boast about me , my school, nor my God. IDOL has a mission to accomplish, they are to throw starfish to the ocean. it might not make sense to people since there are a lot to be thrown and the rest are going to die. But at least IDOL made a difference for that one which is me. It's the dream everyone has and you won't get started if you do not start it. I will leave the video of the Starfish below, and hope you will check that video: https://lnkd.in/giAeSx2R
Congratulations 🎉 Sereyutdam Song ! You've reached your big IDOL goal (new job, promotion, acquired clients)! Welcome to the IDOL mug Club! Let's all show Sereyutdam some love for all the effort and dedication it took for them to make it happen 💚

Oops, Google does it again 🤭. However, this doesn't mean we can ditch our efforts to find solutions to the deprecation of 3rd party cookies. Google will just be giving more options for the user to reject cookies: "a new experience in chrome that lets people make an informed choice" when browsing (as said by VP of Privacy sandbox initiative). So finding better ways to gather data without the 3rd party cookies and gathering more 1st party data should still be one of your priorities. #digitalmarketing #digitaladvertising #onlineadvertising #digitalnimarketing
