How to avoid sounding CONFRONTATIONAL in negotiation and business??
🤬 Most people don't realize it (myself included!), but the words they choose lead them into contest of wills all the time.
Ironically, they sound most aggressive when they try hard to remain "nice" and "unconfrontational". It generally starts like "I understand..." and leads to big "BUT".
Everything before the BUT is BS as goes the saying, so why do we say it?
Here's a great hack for improving your communication, and go from
ADVERSARIAL ➡ COOPERATIVE discussion.
💡 Stop saying "yes, BUT" switch to saying "yes, AND". This way you are not negating what the other has just said, you're not faking agreement, you're taking on board what has been said and ADDING A PERSPECTIVE.
Perspectives lead to cooperation. Counter-arguments lead to confrontation.
Simple trick, but useful to make the other feel
