keeping doc is very important.
A junior engineer taught me a new debugging strategy. It was a little before noon on a work day when a coworker asked me how to debug a feature I wrote. I didn't know the answer right off the bat. Maybe I'd figure it out on a boring walk to lunch like I usually do. He was kind enough to wait and linked me a doc before I left my chair. In that doc was a list of everything he tried to debug the issue. Documents he read, code pointers for reference, and relevant stack overflow answers. There were even contributions by other engineers before me. I was amazed by how clever he was to leave a paper trail on everything he tried. It made it much easier for me to think of new ideas to try. I left for lunch writing a few ideas down then grabbed a salad with water. I came back and he tells me one of the ideas worked! He appreciated everyone who helped him fix the bug. I appreciated how easy he made it for others to help him. #softwareengineer #coding

I can’t remember the last time I read something as absolutely fricking brilliant as this. This is such a good idea for all software engineers to try. Plus if I leave a super cool trail of all the crazy ideas I try, then if I break everything locally, then I can least probably see where it was… this is GENIUS… Probably also a great place for noting ticket numbers, file names, and all of the other really really helpful and useful things that it would help me to remember… ❤️ Simply amazing. Quite simply amazing. #softwareengineer #softwareengineering

It is highly enthusiastic optimistic to be a programmer with different coding skills which is highly recalled and accompanied by me in this highly beneficial technological world.

The engineers that I have tested with a code comprehension test (ability to read and understand another person’s code), have gone on to be good hires, more often than the ones tested with only coding exercise. We need to place value on code comprehension since research shows that a developer typically spends 75% of time reading existing code, 20% modifying existing code and just 5% writing new code. The ability to look at another programmer’s code, and see the big picture, is priceless because it is very easy to get lost in insignificant aspects like the style, naming convention and lose sight of the functional and non functional big picture. It is stuff that seniors are made of. The ability to have a 360’ view of things.

programmer’s day-to-day life is generally spent reading code, fixing errors, and writing new pieces of code. Programming is a highly mentally demanding job as it requires constant problem-solving. In addition to these tasks, there are also meetings with other programmers and stakeholders in the project. The Good: Programmers have a high salary. They work in an industry that is growing rapidly and as an added bonus, they work on some of the most challenging problems in society today. The Ugly: Programmers are faced with long hours, irregular deadlines, and tight deadlines for projects. They’re often exposed to high levels of stress and many other detrimental factors that come with being a computer programmer. The Bad: All these negatives can wear down programmers who don’t have enough time to decompress or enjoy their lives outside of work. #hashtags #My3MTT and #3MTTWeeklyReflections
