To me the biggest component of any successful athlete-brand partnership is an authentic belief in the brand on the part of the athlete. If any athlete truly enjoys a product then when they appear in an ad for it, it appears natural and not forced. You will also see athletes repping that brand in every day life (ie Lebron constantly wearing Beats headphones when he warms up; Brett Favre wearing Wrangler jeans). You want people to believe the athlete is actually a fan of the brand they work with and not just doing it for money. Have you ever thought about what kind of professional sports team your organization would be? And what the name of it would be? We have! Football! Team name: The Solutionists. (we love to solve problems) Why? Because as football season is amongst us, it has made us realize that each step we take along the way with our clients parallels some of the same practices of a football team. The progression is very similar: from scouting to the huddle; snapping the ball and running the play; reading the field; gaining yards; and scoring of course. Let's start at the beginning with Scouting! This is where we are looking to see what we are up against and creating a strategy for how to win. 1. Observe how a team (our client) currently approaches the game (their business). 2. Ask lots of questions to consider a better strategy. 3. Really get into the game of our client's business - Noting all the strengths, weaknesses, and goals. 4. Formulate a strategy of plays to put in place. 5. Communicate to the team "plays" that will be taken into the game in order to win. 6. Determine the best role for each of the team members to play to maximize success. So what professional sports team is your organization? And what would be its name? We would love to know.
