Couldn't agree more. What an exceptional moment, and the definition of sportsmanship. But not the players, the DJ. In the corporate world we like to throw around the word team a lot. But sometimes, and if you're doing things right, members of the team feel passionately and take a stance which may oppose others'. That's how teams grow. They challenge each other. They push to present differing ideas. And then, hopefully they work together towards a solution. It is in that moment, when things feel divided and tense, sportsmanship is most important. Yes, your team may all be playing towards the same win, but leaders should groom teams to be good sports. There is a lot of competition for “my favourite moment of the Olympics”. But this just might have taken GOLD for me. Things got very heated in the Gold medal match of the women’s beach volleyball yesterday between Canada and Brazil. At one moment the players were confronting each other in strongly worded argument at the net and the referee stepped in. There was plenty of tension as they went back to their mark for the next point, and that’s when the DJ decided to play John Lennon’s “Imagine” over the loudspeakers. Angry expressions melted into smiles. What a moment… We sometimes lose it, we care so much about something, we can get caught up in frustration and anger. But something happens to help us regain our perspective. This is life. #imagine

David Szlezak stays Managing Director of EHF Marketing The European Handball Federation has extended the contract with David Szlezak, Managing Director of EHF Marketing , for another four years until 30 June 2028. Since taking on the role in 2016, Szlezak has played a key role in enhancing the appeal of European club handball competitions. Initially responsible for 12 employees, the number has since doubled and he now leads a team of 25 people that works on the exploitation of the rights of the club competitions.
