Athona is pleased to have completed the NHS Evergreen Sustainable Supplier Assessment. The Assessment is a self-assessment and reporting tool and resulted in Athona receiving a level 2: Comprehensive net zero targets and reporting for carbon emissions. This is key to supporting us to understand how we align to the NHS’s long term sustainability priorities and the pathway to progress. #GreenerNHS

In a stride towards reaching Net Zero, NHS Shared Business Services (NHS SBS) has unveiled its first 3-year Green Plan. This initiative marks a pivotal moment in the organisation’s commitment to sustainability, aligning with NHS England’s Net-Zero goals and setting a precedent for environmental responsibility within the wider healthcare sector. As part of our NHS SBS wide Sustainability and Social Value programme ‘Healthy NHS SBS’, we are dedicated to supporting the creation of a Healthier NHS and a crucial part of this is our commitment to reducing carbon emissions. But as an organisation, we know this is a complex challenge and it needs a clear strategy and plan to deliver true change. The importance of carbon reduction, sustainability, and the Green Plan for NHS suppliers cannot be overstated. As the NHS strives to become a leader in environmental stewardship, suppliers must play a pivotal role in this transition. By adopting sustainable practices and reducing carbon emissions, suppliers can not only meet the requirements of the Green Plan but also contribute to a healthier, more sustainable future. In doing so, they will not only fulfill their environmental responsibilities but also enhance their own operational efficiency, competitiveness, and long-term viability in an increasingly eco-conscious market. If you are a supplier thinking about working with the NHS for the first time or are an established supplier looking to refine your approach, it's essential you attend this webinar. During the presentation we'll focus on: Carbon Reduction, Sustainability and the Green Plan: What it means for NHS suppliers with our special guest speaker Olivia Murphy-Fawcett, Head of Sustainability and Social Impact at NHS Shared Business Services. 📅 Tuesday 20th of August 11am 💡 With exclusive insights from Olivia this webinar will take a deep dive into the NHS SBS Green Plan and the NHS Net Zero Supplier Roadmap, and help suppliers understand what these initiatives mean for them. We strengthen responsibility initiatives with a solid sustainability foundation – and network. As an agency group with a variety of clients, projects and suppliers, this network is crucial for enhancing credibility, accessing valuable resources and knowledge, and efficiently meeting regulatory requirements. Our next shoutout goes to Net Zero Carbon Events, an industry initiative addressing climate change in over 60 countries with 600+ signatories. Initiated in 2021 at COP26 in Glasgow by the Joint Meetings Industry Council, the initiative aims to develop common methodologies for measuring industry greenhouse gas emissions across the supply chain, foster collaboration within the industry among suppliers and customers and establish common mechanisms for reporting progress and sharing best practices. The NZCE initiative’s approach and methodology for CO2e Calculation will set the reporting standard for the event industry. Our Green Gen Calculator translates this mechanism into software. Read why NZCE stands out for Junior Sustainability Manager Cosima and how it aligns with our #GreenGen purpose – shaping and enabling the sustainability transformation of brand and retail spaces and experiences. #LIGANOVA #Sustainability #GreenGen #SustainableEvents #SustainabilityTransformation #BrandExperience #BrandSpaces

Chief Medical Officer, MedTech & External Innovation at Johnson & Johnson; Board of Directors, Medical Device Innovation Consortium (MDIC)
Human health and environmental health are fundamentally linked, making sustainable healthcare a necessity. I want to share some examples of how @Johnson & Johnson is committing to support a healthy planet, specifically in MedTech, through: 🔘 Single-use medical device recycling: Working with hospitals across Europe and in New Zealand to reduce our footprint in the operating room. 🔘 Digital health waste management: Addressing the growing e-waste challenge by collaborating on new models for reuse, refurbishment, and responsible disposal via the Digital Health in a Circular Economy (DiCE) initiative. 🔘 More sustainable packaging: Delivering for our patients with less impact on the planet, including launching hundreds of products in post-consumer recycled paperboard. 🔘 Renewable electricity for our global operations: Making strong progress toward our 100% renewable electricity goal, with all operations in Europe now sourcing 100% of their electricity needs from wind or solar. #JNJ has been a long supporter of sustainability, adding the responsibility of “protecting the environment and natural resources” into Our Credo in the 1970s. I am proud that #JNJ is helping to lead the charge for sustainable healthcare. This is an opportunity to improve patient care and safety, optimize costs, and protect our planet.
