This is probably my favorite video from Dr. Amy Watson's (Valdosta State University Assistant Professor of Marketing and Director of the Copeland African-American Museum) YouTube video series with Dewayne Johnson (Founder and President/CEO of the Southern Georgia Black Chambers). We all like to think we are disciplined and heading toward success, but very few of us ever achieve that. Dave Ramsey’s gazelle intensity and Dewayne Johnson’s FIRE share the same mad intensity to get where you want to go without the regular detours common to most people. Of course, there are some differences. Mr. Johnson says it is good to use credit cards as a tool to build your credit score while reaping the card’s rewards program benefits. Mr. Ramsey would warn against this because very few people are as intentional and disciplined as Mr. Johnson. Most people are going to lose the credit card game, as is apparent by the dialogue in the video about these institutions being the wealthiest businesses in America. I love when Mr. Johnson said, “Don’t put on credit card what you can’t pay for. If you don’t have the money to buy it, you don’t need it.’ And again, he spoke wisdom I had never heard when talked about “emergency purposes” being the WRONG thing to use credit cards for and how we often rationalize purchases as “emergencies.” Mr. Johnson made the statement that credit cards are “dangerous,” and I believe this is the foundation on which everyone should build their perspective of the usefulness of credit cards. I was also intrigued by the discussion on how couples/families should address finances. I absolutely agree that dating is the time to determine your money strategy and financial strengths/weaknesses. This may not sound like romantic sweet nothings, but it is essential in finding a mate with whom you can share a life. Money is one the main reasons for divorce. Primarily, this is because of perceived division instead of unity in finances/accounts. This is one reason why I would be extremely cautious of having separate banking accounts. I love the idea from Dr. Watson about the spouses alternating who keeps the financial books. The danger of one marriage partner not being able to and/or knowing how to deal with the families’ finances is a problem I have seen in real life. As Dr. Watson stated, no one knows what may happen to the other spouse which could throw the entire weight of the financial burden on one person for an extended period of time. Without comfort in the processes and vision of the family’s finances, this can add a huge amount of stress to an already difficult time.
How to Play the Money Game with DeWayne Johnson and Dr. Watson (Part 2)

This is a really good point by a friend of mine who isn't on Linkedin, Carl Urban: https://lnkd.in/ejbHMHVz AKA Crisis There's a difference between a BUSINESS and a HOBBY When you step to somebody with a so-called business idea, you have to have already figured how HOW it's going to get paid for and WHO is going to pay for it. There are lots of excellent ideas with no Business Cases at all. 🤷♂️ Let's sell food in the street... ok.. How are we going to get the food to sell? 🤔 You have to PAY THE SUPERMARKET to get the food that you're going to sell for a profit in the street. Let's make a music video... ok.. Who's paying for the video? Because if nobody is paying for the video, you're asking ME to pay for the video and why would I do THAT? 😂 YOU have to go and get your own funding and then bring that budget to an actual working professional and see how much work you can get for that.

Salute to everyone supporting and running up my new singles and the new album “Full Court Press” by the bro @inf_mobb_flee entirely produced by me! Had to address some things as well when it comes to producing and the business real quick too! I have fun doing this but I don’t do this for fun. Come correct or j

Conversations with your partner about your #personalfinances can be awkward, especially toward the beginning of a relationship. According to our Advisory Board Member, Lori Bettinger of Alliance Partners, however - having these conversations can be fun and ultimately bring couples closer together. "The great thing about having a direct conversation about finances, is it takes assumptions out of there and makes sure you know exactly where your partner is on all of these issues that can be really important to your day-to-day life," Lori says. She goes on to advise, "Know each other's priorities, and save accordingly." Marketing Director | Wealth Strategist @ GFI Global Financial Impact | Serving my community & showing individuals the 3 main concepts of money to help protect, save and grow their assets!
Be intentional about who you surround yourself in business with. If they do unethical things to you, your clients or other people in the past, why would you trust to follow them? Do not lose yourself for the love of money or to be liked. Be loyal to yourself. Not worth losing your morals and values. With that being said, is there anyone looking for a second source of income who have high integrity? If so, please feel free to reach out to me :) #financialindustry #businessopportunity #integrity
