Removing roadblocks to team success, giving leaders time to lead. #Elevating Behaviour, not Ticking Boxes.
🌟 Leadership is a Team Sport: The Power of Your Community 🌟 As leaders, we often focus on our growth and development, but the company we keep plays a massive role in our success. The community you surround yourself with—colleagues, mentors, peers, and even your team—can elevate your leadership journey in profound ways. They challenge you, inspire you, and hold you accountable. They offer fresh perspectives, share wisdom, and offer support. Remember, leadership isn’t a solo journey. It’s about building a network of trust, collaboration, and shared values. Your community shapes who you are as a leader, helping you navigate challenges and celebrate successes. So, take a moment to reflect: - Who are the people you’re surrounding yourself with? - Are they pushing you to grow, innovate, and lead purposefully? If not, it might be time to seek out those who will. Together, we achieve more. I am grateful for my community with Actionable.co. These are the people who inspire me, encourage me, and hold me accountable. Thank you, team! #Leadership #Community #Teamwork #GrowthMindset #LeadershipDevelopment
Founder at Actionable.co | I help Leadership Consultants deepen client relationships by proving the impact of their programs.
What's the fastest way to transition your brain from 'summer-doze' to 'ready to roll'? Gather with a collection of switched on, generous and hilarious, likeminded collaborators. Session 1 (of 3) of our bi-annual Consultant "Connect" wrapped an hour ago and I'm still buzzing. Jordan Bullock dropped insane insights on how he's helping clients embrace a movement of Intrinsic Leadership (and how he's helping scale and prove that change via Actionable) Melanie Hill blew minds with the latest AI-driven reporting functionality within the Actionable platform + a number of other new tools to help consultants create greater change, faster and more easily. William O'Dwyer and Kate Marlow ensured everyone present felt seen, appreciated and supported. Even when the power (for my whole neighbourhood) cut out in the middle of it, the party went on (Kate's Slack message to me: 𝗗𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗿𝘆. 𝗪𝗲'𝘃𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂.) I love this team. Love this community. When I’m not back in the classroom, I’m building my new communications consultancy. I’ve recently connected with many wonderful colleagues and mentors who have also stepped out on their own. Here’s what they’ve shared... #1) Find your niche. During my agency days, I learned to be an excellent generalist but now I can focus on what really excites me. #2) Organizations are hiring you for your expertise—don’t forget that! #3) Help each other out. Everyone I’ve talked to has connected me with someone or shared a handy resource. TYSM, y’all! #4) Make sure EVERYONE knows that you’re out for hire. ...So on that note! If your organization is looking for a fresh perspective and expertise in purpose-driven communications (especially in public health!), give me a shout: moellison@outlook.com

Leadership Coach for Communications Professionals - helping communications leaders be seen as strategic, credible and essential to decision making. 20 years' experience incl multiple Director of Comms roles.
It's the last working day before Christmas for many in Communications, but if you're working or on call, especially in public sector Comms, then thank you! We really appreciate your service during what is such a busy and challenging time for the NHS and our public services. I also wanted to share a little bit of inspiration if you're feeling a wee bit burnt out towards the end of this year. Bruce Daisley shared his brilliant newsletter yesterday, sharing workplace trends and ideas for next year, amid often depressing stats around employee (dis)engagement, burn out and stress. It made me think of this TED talk below. It's just over a minute long and well worth your time. In it, famous orchestra conductor Benjamin Zander shares his "shining eyes" theory about employee engagement and how to foster it as a leader. I first saw this whilst in an incredibly challenging role as a new Director of Communications in an under-performing NHS Trust. I've never forgotten how it made me (and the exec team) feel. And more importantly, how it gave us motivation to continue the important work of creating a culture where our people could thrive. Caring for them, so that they could care for others. That's what it's all about as leaders! Have a beautiful festive break if you can, and I'll see you on the flip side later next week. #employeeexperience #employeengagement #communications #leadership https://lnkd.in/er3VjTYJ

"The link between performance and rewards is suboptimal. But there's a collective tolerance for the way things are. It's in the 'too hard' box to deal with. And it's actually OK - if everybody's doing it the same way, there's a tolerance there for that suboptimization to continue. But if we can get some really solid examples of what the alternative looks like, and if we get those stories out, and if we get conversations going from the top down and also the bottom up, as to “no, this is wrong and we need to change it!", then we'll get the momentum we need to change." Before I say yes, I always ask why. Why did you select me to talk on "x" topic? How can my particular experience, story and expertise be of service to the audience? Earlier this year I was asked to speak at Yale School of Management on the topic of Courageous Conversations. As the co-founder of a platform that connects people through conversation, the answer might be obvious. But the thoughtful organizers went one step further. They said that in addition to 20+ years in corporate, that my experience with helping families have conversations in their homes, often intergenerationally, across the world would naturally lend to conversations in the workplace. Trauma, triggers, biases happen no matter what the setting. The need for more intimate, meaningful conversation is beneficial at home, in the community and in the workplace. People are people. That's a big part of the reason why Root & Seed Inc. is formally helping companies through our tools, workshops and consulting. If you have the courage and conviction to build a world where connection happens amongst one of the most diverse workforce to ever exist (Harvard Business Review says 6 generations!), I could use your help. PLEASE vote for our proposal for an intergenerational "Meet Up" for SXSW2025. Link in comments. Title: Everyone is a Storyteller: Generations Unite! Hosts: Anika Chabra from Root & Seed Inc. and Cynthia Heyd from Twinagers See you in Austin! Leslie White Jennifer Siripong
