⚕️ The Me and My Healthcare Provider Campaign, powered by the IAS and Gilead Sciences, is a symbol of hope and inspiration. It goes beyond recognizing the tireless efforts of healthcare workers who navigate the challenges of stigma and discrimination to provide quality HIV prevention, treatment and care. The campaign is a catalyst for change and issues a call to action for replication. It empowers others to confront and challenge the stigma that still hinders progress in the HIV response. It is an honour to witness the transformation of the journeys of our MMHCP Champions into an inspiring narrative through our Stigma-free services cookbook launched in 2023. We believe that sharing these stories will inspire all healthcare providers to do the right thing. As we mark Zero Discrimination Day, we want to elevate the power of these narratives to drive change. ✅ Learn more about our MMHCP Champions, the Stigma-free services cookbook and use the hashtag, #StigmaFreeCare to share your story: https://lnkd.in/evmk5Srq #ZeroDiscriminationDay #StigmaFreeCare #MMHCP

HIV continues to affect women and girls disproportionately. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention around 1 in 4 people living with HIV in the United States are women. Additionally, Black and Latina women are disproportionately affected by HIV, with higher rates of new infections compared to women of other races and ethnicities. The impact of HIV on women and girls goes beyond just physical health. Stigma and discrimination can make it difficult for women to access testing and treatment and can also have adverse effects on their mental health and well-being. Collaborative efforts can help stop the spread of HIV and ensure access to care and resources for all women. #StopHIVTogether #aids #fightstigma #NWGHAAD #TheEndHIV

Only 14% of Black people who can benefit from PrEP are using it, compared to 94% of white people who could benefit. Black people continue to be disproportionately impacted by HIV, yet House leaders are proposing to cut 53% of funding from the Minority AIDS Initiative and $767 million in cuts to domestic HIV funding. This #NBHAAD tell Congress to #SaveHIVFunding at bit.ly/savehivfundingnow.

The more we talk about HIV openly, the less it becomes a taboo. Normalizing conversations about HIV in educational institutions, at work, and around the dinner table can drastically reduce stigma. Let’s make HIV a topic we can discuss openly and without shame.
