In 1984, a small office in Northern Johannesburg laid the foundation of what would become an engineering powerhouse servicing the global mining industry. “We are one of the few #engineering firms out there solely focused on #mining, #metals, and #minerals. It makes us unique,” says DRA Global’s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, James Smith. “We can cover the full #valuechain, whether it’s an early study on a potential orebody, or looking at how to design and build a #mine or process plant. We also work on the operational side through our operations and maintenance businesses. We can provide our clients with an end-to-end solution for almost any aspect of the mining world.” https://lnkd.in/emAQ5-mV #businessworld #digitalnews #globalnews #news #onlinenews #internationalnews #businessleaders #newsupdates #newsoftheday #businessbuilding #latestnews #subscribe #follow #businessfocus

Just in time for PDAC, we are delighted to be able to report that the amended Closure Plan for our #nickel, #copper & #PGM project at Crean Hill has been filed with the Ontario Ministry of Mines. This will allow us to commence our Advanced Exploration plan, which includes a surface bulk sample and development of a ramp from surface to perform test mining. Impressively, we have managed to file the Closure Plan within 15 months of closing the purchase of the Crean Hill property in November 2022, empirical evidence (if it were needed) that #Sudbury is, in our opinion, the best jurisdiction in North America, and possibly the world, to build a mine. #batterymetals #criticalminerals #Sudbury https://lnkd.in/edBeS5uS

CUTTING COSTS OR CUTTING CORNERS? THE TRUE PRICE OF POOR MAINTENANCE IN MINING OPERATIONS General maintenance service providers often overlook the intricate engineering design of specialised on-mine equipment, leading to significant long term costs for mining operations. This issue extends to transfer chutes and other mining infrastructure, Farouk Abrahams, Sales Director at Weba Chute Systems, notes. He explains that poor maintenance typically results in unscheduled stoppages due to equipment failure, compromising mining operations. via Mining.com.au NickelSearch Limited is planning its first lithium-focused drill program to test the #lithium-#caesium-#tantalum (LCT) anomalies identified at the Quarry and those to its west, south, and north. The company will also seek to resolve negotiations for access and compensation to enable #drilling to be carried out on the private land, as it complete works to expose the bedrock geology of the Quarry, under Mining Warden permits. Drill programs for targets outside of this private land are being prepared and drilling in areas where there is an existing approved Program of Work will be fast-tracked. #NIS says additional soil sampling is underway to continue to test areas of interest (AOI) where there was little exposure of bedrock geology. Conveyor belts: the lifeline of the mining industry... and its biggest hazard. For mining companies worldwide, conveyor belts power the relentless rhythm of production. Yet, these vital systems harbor a hidden danger – a significant risk of fire that can halt operations, cause property damage, and jeopardize the safety of workers. Steph Thomas, an advanced research scientist at FM Global, spoke with Australian Mining about the 5 steps mining companies can take to help mitigate these risks. What are the 5 steps? 👉 Find out now: http://ms.spr.ly/6047cpcIT

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 25, 2024 Media Contact: Kenna O'Neill koneill@miningamerica.org AEMA Commends Decision Regarding Mill Sites The American Exploration & Mining Association released the following statement regarding today's D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals decision affirming the lower court's determination that the Mining Law does not place a strict restriction on the number of mill sites permissible for ancillary purposes. “Today’s decision from the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals is a tremendous victory for the mining industry and for AEMA, which has long fought to protect rights under the Mining Law so critical to our members’ ability to responsibly produce the minerals needed for modern society and our national defense,” said Mark Compton, Executive Director of the American Exploration & Mining Association. “The majority opinion noted the statutory provisions in the Mining Law are clear, and the appellants’ reading of it was ‘strained.’ AEMA is proud to intervene in this case in defense of the Department of the Interior regulations, and we will continue to fight on behalf of our members and the mining industry.” Background: In October 2020, a decision from the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia in Earthworks et al. vs. U.S. Department of the Interior et al., reaffirmed rights under the Mining Law and protected the rights of miners to explore, develop and operate on federal lands. In the case, which dates back to 2009, the two primary claims of significant concern to our members and the industry were plaintiffs' challenges to BLM’s 2008 Mining Claim Rule and 2003 Mill Site Rules. AEMA intervened in defense of the Department of the Interior regulations. Upon appeal, plaintiffs dropped their challenge to the 2008 Mining Claim Rule. ### About AEMA: American Exploration & Mining Association is a 129 year old, 1,800 member, national association representing the minerals industry. With members in 46 states, AEMA is the recognized national voice for exploration, the junior mining sector, maintaining access to public lands, and represents the entire mining life cycle, from exploration through production to reclamation and closure. Geotechnical drilling by Polymetals (ASX: POL) of the high-grade Upper North Lode (UNL) at the Endeavor Mine near the mining town of Cobar in central New South Wales has returned up to 13.5 g/t #gold, 1,410 g/t #silver, 12.5% #zinc and 34.0% #lead prompting a positive response from investors. Diamond drilling results of up to 67.1 metres at 517 g/t silver equivalent increase confidence that ore extraction rates from the UNL may be significantly improved as Polymetals remains on track to restart the mine in the first half of 2025. The results, which include 45 metres at 2.01 g/t gold, also indicate that a significant portion of the UNL, particularly the massive sulphide mineralisation, will be sufficiently competent to support accelerated mining rates, pointing to more robust production cashflows earlier than modelled.
