Founders (and investors sharing dealflow): The question “Tell me about the company traction” should not be answered with “We’re forecasting / on track / going to do $xx this year”. Traction = To-date historical revenue/user generation + already under contract. Nothing “future” about it. Let’s talk about YTD, current MRR / ARR, TTM / TTQ MoM growth. The number of times I ask this question and have to follow up with “that’s great, so that $xx revenue figure, how close are we to that”, responded with “oh we’re only (<25%) of the way there”. **Tbh: I hear this just as much, sometimes more, with investors sharing dealflow than founders. Anyone else? Am I off base?
