In our group fossil energy represents a small share of our total energy consumption. The use of bark and residue chips from production in heat production at our Höljäkkä and Ilseng plants is a significant factor in the low share of fossil energy. Over the past four years, the share of fossil energy in our total energy consumption has decreased by over 16%. By minimising energy consumption and using as much renewable energy as possible, we are also reducing our own greenhouse gas emissions. The first pillar of our sustainability strategy is carbon management and we’ve been making big steps on our journey to net-zero. We aim to reduce our carbon footprint to 0tCO2e by 2030 (excluding raw materials) and by 2050 0tCO2e, including raw materials.
