🥊 Why Entrepreneurship and Boxing Are So Alike 🥊 To me, building a business feels a lot like stepping into a boxing ring. You’re constantly pushing limits, learning to adapt quickly, and facing challenges head-on. While I originally come from endurance sports—competitive road cycling, running, triathlon, and duathlon—I’ve grown particularly passionate about boxing over the last three years. Starting a venture feels a lot like a training camp in boxing. Both demand resilience, coordination, strategy, and a strong mindset. In boxing, every punch is a lesson, urging you to rethink your approach and sharpen your game. In entrepreneurship, every setback is a chance to recalibrate and grow stronger. And in both, there’s no win without dedication and discipline. In both worlds, the people you surround yourself with make all the difference. Whether coaches, sparring partners, or supporters, they’re the reason I’m inspired to move forward with new projects. ✨Paris 2024 was magical! The Netherlands has become the most successful rowing nation!  From my rowing club E.S.R. Thêta, my former teammate and friend Lisa Scheenaard was competing, so of course, I had to go I see many parallels between Olympians and founders. What can we learn from them? 💪 🧠 Resilience: Talent alone isn’t enough. It demands intense focus, rigorous training, and, above all, resilience. In 2022, Lisa was told there was no spot for her in the Dutch team. Yet, she persisted, adapted, and forged ahead with a new plan. Her teammate Martine Veldhuis, a lifelong lightweight rower, had to choose whether to stop or transform to compete in the heavyweight category. When people question why you continue in your sport. it’s crucial to believe in yourself but don’t be delusional. True athletes understand the benchmarks they need to hit. Founders also hear a lot of NO’s, learn from every no, but also understand your metrics. 😉 📣 Coaching: The right coach at the right time is crucial. The coach who helped you win your first national championship may not be the one to lead you to the Olympics. Founders often say they prefer investors who have been founders themselves. But what if only Olympians coached Olympians? Believe me, there are great coaches who didn’t compete at the top level. Coaching is a completely different skill. It Takes a Village: The journey to becoming an Olympian is long and involves many people. Appreciate those who have influenced you at every stage. It was incredible to see E.S.R.
