Chemotherapy at the end of life is a complex decision that depends on various factors such as the patient's overall health, their wishes, the type and stage of cancer, and potential benefits versus risks. In some cases, chemotherapy might be recommended to alleviate symptoms or prolong life, while in others, it may not be appropriate due to limited benefits or increased side effects. Palliative care teams can provide the necessary support for patients and their families to discuss options thoroughly and manage distressing symptoms holistically, addressing physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs. "Not having treatment isn't giving up," Koven said. "Sometimes, by having treatment you are giving up. You are giving up time with your family. You are giving up a quality of life necessarily for something you are not trading off any extra days." 👇 #palliative #palliativecare #palliativemedicine #soinspalliatifs #palliatievezorg #hpm #hapc #hospice #hospicecare #patientcare

This was a retrospective multi-center study on 119 patients with TED and received a full course of treatment with teprotumumab. The rate of retreatment was 24% (29/119). Amon predictors of retreatement age was the only significant driver of retreatment. Retreated patients were 7 years older than their non retreated counterparts. One of the interesting findings in this study was that smoking was not significantly associated with recurrence. #Thyroid eye disease #teprotumumab #recurrence #Graves' Orbitopathy https://lnkd.in/g-954_Jq
