✈️ Today marks National Aviation Day, a time to honor the achievements of the aviation industry and the pioneers who made flight possible. Established in 1939 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, this day coincides with the birthday of Orville Wright, who, alongside his brother Wilbur, changed the world with their first powered flight in 1903. Aviation has come a long way since then, revolutionizing global travel, trade, and communication. It’s not just about the technology; it’s about connecting people, cultures, and ideas across continents. How can we celebrate National Aviation Day? • Explore the history of aviation through books, documentaries, or a visit to an aviation museum. • Reflect on the impact of aviation in your life, whether it’s through travel, business, or innovation. • Engage with your network by sharing a story or experience related to aviation. ✈️Celebrating 75 Years of the Bristol Brabazon: The Aircraft That Paved the Way for Concorde✈️ The 75th anniversary of the Bristol Brabazon, a pioneering aircraft that laid the groundwork for the development of Concorde, is being celebrated this September. On September 4, 1949, about 10,000 people gathered at Filton Airfield to witness its maiden flight. Dubbed the "ocean liner of the sky," the Brabazon was designed to usher in a new era of luxurious air travel. Although the project was a commercial failure, as the market shifted towards more affordable, high-density flights, it played a significant role in the history of aviation. Its development directly influenced the Bristol Aeroplane Company's future success, particularly its involvement in the design and construction of Concorde. Aerospace Bristol is hosting talks and displays throughout September to commemorate this anniversary. Visitors can view pieces of the aircraft, including the cockpit window and tyre, while also learning about public reactions at the time. Amy Seadon, head of collections at Aerospace Bristol, expressed the museum's excitement in showcasing the importance of the Brabazon to Bristol’s aviation heritage. Filton runway and the Brabazon Hangar, originally built for this project, became instrumental in the later development of Concorde. Despite its eventual failure, the Brabazon remains an iconic part of British aviation history. #BristolBrabazon #AviationHistory #Concorde #AerospaceBristol #FiltonAirfield #AviationInnovation #Supersonic #BristolAeroplaneCompany #AircraftEngineering #Brabazon #AviationMilestones #BritishEngineering

FACT: Today is National Aviation Day in honor of Orville Wright's birthday. CONTROVERSY: There has been some debate on which state is worthy of the title "First in Flight". For those who call North Carolina home (such as myself) there may be some bias since the title is due to the legendary 12 second flight on Dec. 17, 1903, at Kill Devil Hills near Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. However, Wilbur and Orville spent most of their lives in Dayton, Ohio, where their outlandish idea of human flight were manifested into reality. It was there where those dreams turned to sweat that brought us to where we are today. QUESTION: I'm curious to hear from those who have a passion for aviation - past, present, and future - What state do you believe is most deserving of the title "First in Flight"? Today many may take these amazing machines for granted thanks to the wild ideas of those Wright Brothers. What also may be taken for granted is the crew members needed to operate these jets safely everyday. Do not settle for having "enough to get by" in your flight department. Let your crew get the support and rest they need and reach out to myself and the team at In-Flight Crew Connections should you ever need additional support in any of your business aviation personnel needs. Happy National Aviation Day.
Happy NATIONAL AVIATION Day! National Aviation Day is observed in the United States on August 19 each year to celebrate the history and development of aviation. It also celebrates the birthday of Orville Wright who, together with his brother Wilbur, made significant contributions to powered flight. Orville made the first flight for 12 seconds and 120 feet around the site of Wright Brothers National Memorial on December 17, 1903.
