We love seeing the great friendships that are formed in our communities! Janet and John, known around Atria Park of Vintage Hills as J & J, have built a friendship through shared interests like karaoke, classic literature and enjoying community programs. In this video, I speak on the topic "Building Deeper Connections: Beyond the Church Building". It's crucial to understand that the essence of community within a faith congregation extends far beyond the physical walls of the church. True connections are built through shared experiences, mutual support, and genuine care for one another's well-being. By engaging in activities like small group meetings, community service projects, and casual social gatherings, we foster a sense of belonging and deeper relationships. This approach not only strengthens our faith but also enriches our lives, creating a supportive network that we can rely on outside of traditional church settings. https://lnkd.in/gmmtNMr2

Friendships are #partnerships that make carrying the burdens of life easier. Humans are naturally made for social connections; they are pillars for #support and #qualitywellbeing. I read something about relationships over the weekend, and I think it strongly applies to friendships as well: "When you find the right person (friend), you don't worry that their success takes away from you, you worry that you are not doing enough to help them be successful. Two individuals: each of you is great at what you do, but you make each better. With time you learn what's best for each other, you challenge each other and you are better for it. When they choose you everyday for the rest of their lives, they are counting on that partnership." #HappyFriendshipDay

Conflict -- Part 1: the Vibe Killer ☠ When I showed up at the Grove in 2020, I realized just how terrible with conflict I was. There was someone in the community who would constantly trigger me and I would just avoid it. My chest would constrict like a boa was around it, and I didn't know how to handle it. My nervous system was in mostly freeze, some flight. It all came to a head at the worst time 😆.. Many at the community planned this getaway weekend trip to a cozy winter cottage. There was a lot of excitement leading up to it…we arrived…a roaring fireplace…music…cozy scene…elevated states…bounty of food…in good cheer… And the person said something again triggering. My body could no longer hold the charge… and I snapped back at them . VIBE DEAD. Everyone stopped what they were doing and we took space to calm down. The weekend vibe recovered, but it left me with motivation to figure out how to avoid that. The more I explored it and practiced, the more I got fascinated by the complexity of conflict. Living in community thankfully brought many opportunities to practice and I’ll forever be grateful for the conflict partners over those months, awkwardly working together to try to resolve our tension. It was such a rich and beautiful experience that I’ll forever be grateful for. On the other side of the conflict was intimacy, respect, and trust. And each successful bout with conflict eased the grip of the boa. As certain conflicts in the community festered past one-on-one and into the lives of others, my personality became fascinated with deconstructing it and reconstructing a path for any conflict to break through to the other side. What I've been patching together will follow 🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹 Hi, I'm Kyle Gaarder. I believe community living can transform ourselves and our culture. I dream of a future where community balanced with individualism is common sense and accessible. I share what I'm thinking about to give possible value and find my place within the movement. #coliving #colivingspace #sharedliving #futureofliving #cooperatives #conflictresolution Mayank Pokharna Krishan Nattar Spencer Honeyman Chris Orcutt
