Adding a surgical ablation during valve or coronary artery bypass surgery can be simpler and faster than you think. Designed to make surgical ablations more efficient, the Isolator® Synergy™ EnCompass® Clamp can access the posterior wall of the left atrium. We need this technology in Australia ASAP - will make a PVI and LA ablation very straightforward and reproducible. Adding an Atriclip whilst performing open surgery is also of huge benefit to patients in the longterm.

Very nice. Here at Sheffield, we have managed to do that manoeuvre with a single shot isolation of the PVs & left atrial back wall with a regular bipolar clamp for a number of years. It’s quite easy (once you know how 😄)

That looks great. Without a doubt, Bipolar RF deserves special place in SA for AF. However, still missing the mitral line which must include the coronary sinus burn from outside/inside the heart. This shouldn’t be overlooked in any sense, because coronary sinus contains crosssing-over muscle fibers (potentially connecting both atria electrically) which can lead towards post operative peri-mitral flutter, highly resistant almost to everything. That goes without saying (at last but not least), the right atrial lesion pattern, responsible roughly for 20% of atrial macro- reentrant circuits, regardless the type on AF.

Looks great Zach DeBoard. We should consider evaluating this in Waikato Cardiothoracic Unit.
