MEDICS, LET’S DO BETTER – It takes 10 visits or more to the #doctor to get a proper diagnosis of #endometriosis, says a #report out today. This follows a quick survey we have done through #X/Twitter, which says that 86% of those with the condition had to wait over five painful years to get the same result. Reasons include doctors simply treating one condition such as chronic back pain or heavy bleeding, rather than checking patient records for a pattern. We’ll let that sink in. Endometriosis is the second most common gynaecological condition in the UK after fibroids. Unfortunately, endometriosis patients still suffer for years on average before getting a diagnosis, and endometriosis has no cure. The European Society of Cardiology Congress 2024 has now drawn to a close, leaving us with a wealth of knowledge and inspiration. We would like to especially acknowledge Dr. Nijad Bakhshaliyev’s work in utilizing the PRELIEVE study data to explore the potential of right ventricular-pulmonary artery (RV-PA) coupling as a predictor of outcomes in Heart Failure patients undergoing controlled left atrial decompression with an interatrial shunt device. His hypothesis-generating findings suggest that reduced RV-PA coupling may help identify potential non-responders to LA decompression, warranting further prospective evaluation in a larger patient population.
