If you run a business in California, you have probably heard of SB553 (Workplace Violence Prevention). It is a monster. Here are 4 things you need to know: 1. Effective date: 7/1/2024 (11 days at time of posting) 2. Mandatory WVPP: Employers must develop detailed plans to prevent workplace violence, integrated into existing Injury and Illness Prevention Programs (IIPP). 3. Employee Training and Involvement: Extensive training on the WVPP is required for all employees, ensuring they are equipped to handle potential violence and are INVOLVED in the plan's development. 4.
