I had an interesting conversation with a professional yesterday. They have been investing in sharpening their professional skills by taking courses for certifications in their field and education for their Masters. I applauded them for their ongoing pursuit to grow and sharpen themselves. Then they said something that took me by surprise. They said when they applied for positions that fit their skill set and work with a team to advance an organizations objectives they were told multiple times "It seems you're over qualified". OMG! My encouragement to them was never sacrifice ongoing growth for small minded people. Keep sharpening yourself and maintain the attitude to contribute to a teams success. Wise leaders look for quality people who have potential, seek ongoing development (teachable) and have an attitude to assist a teams fruitfulness. The caption below is the oldest picture on my phone and is a saying I have lived my life by. As leaders (that we all are), are your actions in line with your words? Do you promote colleagues and team members to take their holiday and switch off from work, but drop the email that says “I know your away but…..” or “Just a quick one…”? Do you support colleagues to share ideas, to drive the company on, but never create that safe space that they feel comfortable to share? Do you ask your contacts to share your new business idea on their social media accounts but never return the favor unless asked?? Don’t get me wrong, we all get it wrong from time to time, that’s where the awareness of SELF and daily check ins are vital. I have spent a lot of time recently speaking to some truly inspiring people, who I believe are a #gamechanger within their industry. I want to live a life that enhances the people around me and pay forward the experiences and knowledge I gain. Hence I want to tell everyone about the exciting new Routes Platform. It truly is a #gamechanger for any industry working with athletes or learners allowing them to record, evidence and showcase who they are whilst providing mentors the ability to create courses, grading & transferable skills and provide guidance & references for learners/athlete. 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵: 𝟯 𝗚𝗮𝗺𝗲-𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗠𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲 I just wrapped up a coaching and development course—a huge thanks to Lisa Gates for all of her great content.  I’m energized by three key takeaways that I believe are critical for any HR leader: 1. 𝙎𝙥𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙤𝙧𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥 𝙞𝙨 𝙀𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙡: For years, I didn’t fully understand the power of sponsorship. Now, as a leader, I see how crucial it is to actively seek sponsorship—and to offer it. Sponsorship goes beyond mentorship; it’s about advocating for someone’s advancement. Let’s be intentional in fostering talent by being clear about our willingness to sponsor others. 2. 𝘾𝙤𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙨—𝙄𝙛 𝙔𝙤𝙪’𝙧𝙚 𝙊𝙥𝙚𝙣 𝙩𝙤 𝙄𝙩: Coaching delivers results, but only for those willing to be coached. The real impact happens when people are ready to embrace the process. As leaders, we can create the conditions for growth, but it’s on the individual to lean in and make the most of it. 3. 𝘼𝙨𝙠 𝘽𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙌𝙪𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨, 𝙂𝙚𝙩 𝘽𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙨: The quality of our coaching conversations hinges on the questions we ask. I’ve learned that refining my questions leads to sharper insights and more meaningful outcomes. Let’s challenge ourselves to ask better questions and drive deeper growth. My MBA journey wasn't just about classes; it transformed how I approach work and life. SEVEN key lessons have become my guiding lights which I would like to share💥: 1-Networking Mastery: Building a diverse team isn't just about connections; it's a passport to unexplored opportunities beyond your scope of field. 2-Value:  Literally, No one is busy 24/7, not even CEOs😉 . It's all about priorities and the value you can bring to them. This value can be either directly related to the business or even through genuine human interaction without intentions. Think of it like a musician catching the attention of maestro. So, instead of chasing, I focus on increasing the value. 3- Embracing Feedback: Accepting feedback and criticism is the pathway to overcoming your inner ego without taking things personally, as there is always room to improve. It is often under the concept of “IT DEPENDS,” from which perspective you assess the situation. 4- Emotional Stability is Key:  Even the highest skills and experiences can quickly & easily evaporate without emotional stability. You cannot leave an impact on others, and your emotions, like waves of severe ups and downs, create instability for yourself and others. 5- Discipline: Rely on discipline and clear goals instead of quick boosts from motivation. Discipline leads to steady progress and helps you stay strong, while motivation can be unpredictable and temporary. 6- Confidence Confidence is like having two arms. One is assertiveness—expressing opinions without hesitation. The other is flexibility—being open to others' views. Balancing both is key for real self-confidence. 7- Knowledge: Achieving an entrepreneurial and leadership mindset requires a deep understanding of three critical areas: ✅People Management & Human Behavior. ✅Operation Cycle Management (Supply & Demand). ✅Financial Management.
