🚗 Recently, I visited a car service center for a quick wash and found myself in a bit of a rush. My car ended up with a new team member, while a more experienced technician was taking a break. Initially concerned about time, I approached the senior technician to expedite the process. What followed was a valuable lesson in perspective. The new team member took his time, meticulously ensuring every detail was covered and validated. On the other hand, the experienced technician, while efficient, occasionally overlooked finer points. This experience shifted my thinking on the importance of learning attitudes versus sheer experience. While experience is undoubtedly valuable, attitude and a willingness to learn are equally crucial. I had to complete an important task at native in my new house to proceed with the next work. Since it was a hectic schedule I couldn't follow up with the technicians regularly. The work was going back and forth. When I requested the technician's work through phone calls, he gave different reasons and didn't complete the job. Since my work was dependent on the technician's job, it was getting delayed. I couldn't proceed further. It felt like a stopping point. Later I asked the technician and his team to visit my house. They all came at the assigned time. I explained to them clearly on why they needed to complete the work and what would be the impact if it wasn't completed at the right time and when they needed to complete etc. They were fully available to listen to me. After hearing everything, they all went off and I thought this time also it's going to be delayed. However, 15 minutes later I could see the task being completed and I was all smiles because I was able to proceed with the next steps. It was a good shift. I realised that even though I communicated over the phone, they couldn't get the impact. However, when I spoke to them directly they were able to listen and act upon it immediately and that's the power of personal interaction and communication. When we communicate effectively and also inform them of the impact, the outcome is great and powerful.
