Emotions. We often try to push them down at work because we think they'll be perceived as 'unprofessional'. But they're actually some of the biggest motivators and aids to memory. It's time to start embracing emotion in the workplace, especially when it comes to creating engaging training materials. Dean Humphrey, Brand & Content Director shares his thoughts ⬇️ #Emotion #EmotionalLearning #Training

Contrary to popular belief, engaging training delivery doesn’t always come naturally. 👩🏫 There are specific skills and habits you can develop to build capability in this space and encourage not only better engagement during training, but also improve the likelihood that the training will be applied back on the job. Here are a few examples of strategies we use to create an engaging, brain-friendly learning environment: 1. Room set up Room design can have a significant influence over participant communication and participation in experiential activities. Good room setup provides maximum functionality and is comfortable, safe and accessible for participants. 2. Verbal vs non-verbal Being conscious of non-verbal cues such as posture, gesture, facial expression, volume, pitch, pace and tone are key in maintaining engagement. 3. Learning styles Integrate different approaches such as video, whiteboards and flip charts, group discussion, storytelling, role play and activities that promote movement around the room. 4. Storytelling Using stories to illustrate key points can bring core program learnings to life and help personalise the experience for maximum impact. 5. Experiential activities Participants often have ‘aha’ moments during an activity, where they suddenly see something in a different way or the information becomes ‘real’ for them. Do you have any other tips that have worked well for you? We'd love to hear them. 👇 #Psychology #SafetyAtWork #EmployeeEngagement

Ever wondered why stories are unforgettable? Think about it. Our favorite movies. Books. Even ads. They all tell stories. Stories that move us. The ones that make us think. And feel! Now, imagine bringing that power into the workplace. Here's why storytelling transforms corporate training: >Connects Emotionally: Ever felt a story tug at your heartstrings? That's emotion at work. In training, emotional connections make lessons stick. It's science. >Boosts Retention: Facts tell, but stories sell. And they stick. We remember stories far longer than bullet points on a slide. >Encourages Engagement: Ever dozed off in a training session? We've all been there. But a compelling story? That keeps us on the edge of our seats. Eager for what's next. >Simplifies Complex Ideas: Some concepts are tough. But wrap them in a story? Suddenly, they make sense. It's like a lightbulb moment. >Inspires Action: Great stories don't just entertain. They inspire. They push us to think differently. To act. That's powerful in training. Imagine a workplace where training is not just a chore. But a journey. A story where every employee is the hero. Ready to bring the power of stories to your training sessions? Let's chat. Your next chapter could be transformative. #corporatecoaching #corporatetraining #storytelling #storytellingforbusiness #bsb

Helping wellness resorts grow |Resort Growth Strategist | Marketing Execution Expert | Project Management | Planning | Omni Channel Marketing Strategist | Wellness Marketing Ops | Dog Lover | Animal Welfare Activist
Yesterday at the mall, I witnessed a heartwarming scene—a live pottery session. A potter was patiently teaching a young child, while the child’s mother recorded the moment, smiling proudly. This simple interaction got me thinking about the power of unlearning and its importance in business growth, especially for wellness resorts. In the world of wellness, just like in pottery, mastery comes not only from learning new techniques but also from unlearning old habits. The potter’s wheel is a perfect metaphor: to create something beautiful, you often need to reshape and rework the clay, discarding old forms and embracing new possibilities. For wellness resorts, growth and transformation start with the willingness to unlearn outdated practices and adopt innovative approaches. Here’s how: 1. Embrace Change: Just as the potter reshapes the clay, be open to new ideas and methodologies. 2. Nurture Learning: Foster an environment where continuous learning and unlearning are encouraged. 3. Focus on Quality: Prioritize genuine, high-quality experiences over quantity. 4. Adapt and Evolve: Stay flexible and adapt to the changing needs of your guests. 5. Inspire and Lead: Just like the potter guides the child, lead your team with vision and patience. 6. Celebrate Growth: Recognize and celebrate the small wins and transformations along the way. At the end of the day, it’s about creating a masterpiece. Let’s reshape, redefine, and rejuvenate our approach to wellness, unlearning what no longer serves us and embracing the future with open arms. #WellnessResorts #BusinessGrowth #Unlearning #Leadership consultKar.com

When we can communicate; clear, timely, and caring we will not go wrong. The reality of communication being the problem more than what actually happened is so real for a lot of people; at home and in the workplace. A couple great questions to ask before diving into a conversation are: - Are you in a headspace where you can talk about ____? - I would like to have a conversation about ___ and would like you to (a) hold space, listen and validate or (b) help me brainstorm and figure out a solution - What is your intention behind speaking to me that way? or Is your intention to make me fee ____? In my past relationship one of the phrases I was always told "it is not the what, it is the how". If this is something you hear often, we should talk - there is a different level of awareness around why you speak the way you do that is kinda fun to tap into/become aware of. Rooting for you, always. For those new to connecting, I have a Self-Discover Starts Here Product that is a self-led learning opportunity where you can have ~90 modules to work through and rediscover who you are and what is important to you. https://lnkd.in/g7uMcK_Q #communication #provider #feedback #notthewhatitsthehow #learning #positivereframe #consciousness #fastfeedback #mindsetshift #changetothrive #reticularactivatingsystem #healthyhabits #awareness #uplevelyourhealth #healthcoach #lifecoach #executivecoach #professionaldevelopment #personaldevelopment #becomebetter #mindbodyspirit #lifestylehack #alyssapoggioli

👾 I started line managing without any training. It was a new job, a new role and I've also been told ‘’btw, you’ll be managing someone’’. Ever since, I’ve managed multiple employees. Here are a few things I’ve picked up along the way: 👉 Everyone has bad days It can be anything, from moving house to sleepless nights due to anxiety. Everyone will have a day when they are not as they usually are and that’s okay. If someone is having long-term difficulties, I encourage them to ask for professional help available in the company. And if someone seems ‘’off’’ I gently check-in to see if they’re doing okay. Really caring for someone’s wellbeing should be non-negotiable for managers. 👉 Explain ‘’the obvious’’ Managers need to learn how to communicate well. I like to explain what is ‘’obvious’’ so that others can understand what I need and not second-guess. Sometimes that means showing a process step-by-step, or finding good references or analogies. The other day I explained that a component library is like Lego bricks that can build different houses - from little huts to magnificent castles. That made all the difference! The last thing I want is for an employee's confidence to sink if they do something ''wrong'' because I didn't explain it well enough. 👉 Encourage mistakes What I mean by this is to encourage people to try things and not be scared to fail. Everyone makes mistakes. Everyone. There is a lot of stigma around making a mistake, but it can be a positive thing. We learn by staying curious, experimenting and making mistakes. I encourage my team to keep on learning, trying different things and doing things differently. 🤔 What do you do as a manager? 🤔 What do you value in your manager? #peoplemanagement #uxdesign #wellbeingatwork
