What I have realized is that there's a major difference in how well different brands use welcome messages. The best brands are much better at it than the average ones. The average ones overlook them despite consistently yielding some of the highest revenue per message. It’s 100% worth investing in refining and optimizing your welcome message to maximize performance and subscriber retention especially if it has the highest median opt-out rate of all message types!
