As we look towards the new year, we’re celebrating those who inspire our mission at Mission MSA. From providing vital resources and connections for families to funding research aimed at better treatments and, one day, a cure, none of this would be possible without you. Will you give today and extend our impact? A donation of $75, $100, or $250 can change the experience of an MSA patient, their family, and the larger MSA community. Donate today and be part of the progress: https://lnkd.in/gCXMcPnq #MSA #multiplesystematrophy #msaawareness #raredisease #rarediseaseawareness #donate #getinvolved #rarediseasefundraiser #community #rarediseasecommunity #rarediseasestory #communitystory #parkinsons #parkinsonism #parkinsonsdisease #patient #caregiver #awareness #giving #donate #donation #contribute #contribution #missionmsa #nonprofit #msacommunity

The results are in 🗳️
Last year, instead of providing members with a festive gift, we donated £10,000 across three chosen charities. We asked members again this year to tell us how they'd like us to donate another £10,000, as a more meaningful and sustainable alternative to a packaged present. The votes have been counted and the following donations have been made to this year's chosen charities. £5440 - Alzheimer's Society 🩵 £890 - Disasters Emergency Committee ❤️ £3670 - Mind 💙 We're sure you'll agree that all three are very worthy causes. #FestiveGiving #CharityGiving #MortgageNetwork

This winter, NASS is launching a Winter Appeal to provide essential support and services to people living with axial SpA. Your donations will enable us to: • Offer advice and resources to help individuals manage their symptoms. • Provide supportive community connections to combat isolation. Every contribution makes a difference. For example: • A donation of £25 can help up to 40 people receive at least one guidebook from their rheumatologist to help them manage their symptoms between hospital appointments. • £50 can help one person apply for disability benefits with expert advice and support. • £250 can help people with axial SpA meet others going through similar experiences at a Your SpAce meetup. Together, we can ensure that no one faces this winter alone or without the support that they need. Check out Dan Pallotta's seriously-impactful TED Talk (and now he has a movie too!) about funding for charities. Dan Pallotta is a humanitarian activist and fundraiser. He is best known for his involvement in multi-day charitable events with the long-distance Breast Cancer 3-Day walks, AIDS Rides bicycle journeys, and Out of the Darkness suicide prevention night walks. Back in 2013 he presented a ground-breaking TED talk (which has now had over five and a half million views!) that shines a light on what he sees as the double standard that drives our broken approach to not-for-profit funding. In this bold and inspirational talk, his key message is: Let's change the way we think about changing the world. Too many not-for-profits, he says, are rewarded for how little they spend - not for what they get done. Instead of equating frugality with morality, he asks us to start rewarding charities for their big goals and big accomplishments (even if that comes with big expenses). And more recently he has turned his seminal work Uncharitable into a feature length film, which is well worth a look too. So if you are looking for some inspo to turn your organisation's approach to raising funds on its head - I highly recommend checking out Dan's work. It certainly gave me a number of a-ha moments! https://lnkd.in/gnkTq5Qy #NotForProfit #Governance #News #Information #Events
Dan Pallotta: The way we think about charity is dead wrong

Its sad. It’s the reality of the third sector in tough economic climates. Plus the lack of government investment in vital support services, leaving charities to fill the ever widening gaps in provision. My question is who can we rely on to address this, forget manifestos we need kept promises. #investment #thirdsector

𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗞 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 A survey by Charity Excellence - a FREE one-stop-shop for everything a non-profit needs. found that 4% of charities feel they may have to consider closure, and warned of a high risk of widespread charity closures across the sector alongside some 12% of charities reducing staff, according to Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) research. Closures reported to date in 2024 include; Age UK West Cumbria, Opening Doors, Glasgow East Women's Aid, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust and Against Violence & Abuse (AVA) with redundancies at Macmillan, CALM, Guide Dogs UK, Crisis and Tearfund. I can't even begin to fathom the social impact of these closures. I'd be interested to hear if there is any research going on in this area?
