Result-Driven Product Manager | Innovator in Product Strategy and Development | Cross-Functional Collaboration Expert |Customer success expert
As a product manager in hardware development, I have faced unique challenges and chances that have shaped how I create products. One of the key parts of working in hardware development is the need for close attention to detail during the design and testing phases. Unlike software, where changes can be made quickly and cheaply, hardware changes often take a long time and cost a lot. This requires careful planning, where every design choice must be thought through for its impact on production schedules and expenses. Another important part is managing the supply chain. Ensuring that parts are sourced from reliable suppliers and managing inventory to match production schedules are critical tasks that require constant monitoring. Coordination between engineering, manufacturing, and logistics teams is essential to keep operations running smoothly and meet delivery dates. Additionally, customer feedback is crucial in hardware development. While software can be updated after release, hardware products need to be as perfect as possible when launched. This means thorough user testing and using feedback early in the development process to avoid costly recalls or redesigns. Overall, working in hardware development has taught me the importance of detailed planning, effective teamwork, and being proactive in solving problems. I'm curious to hear from fellow product managers about their experiences. How does working in hardware development compare to working in software for you? What unique challenges and chances have you encountered in your fields? #ceo #productdevelopmemt #product #innovation

engineers need to talk directly to customers. if there are a lot of steps in between user feedback and an engineer, context gets lost at each stage. when you remove these steps, information moves quickly in both directions. increase the signal, and you can quickly cut scope, realize you’re talking the wrong problem, or come up with a more elegant solution. companies still need product managers, but it’s easier when engineers behave like product engineers and talk to users. this means product managers spend more time exploring opportunities, and less time writing tickets.

Managing Partner- Upekkha (AI fund and accelerator) Download EY-Upekkha Report - upekkha.io/ey-upekkha-report
As an engineer, your brains are wired to jump to a solution. But as a product manager, your job is not to provide solutions. Your job is to be the voice of your customers. You define the problem, bring it to the table, and facilitate a discussion. Let your engineers and designers do their job, i.e., create a solution. Also, when you think like an engineer, you become aware of engineering limitations and accept that you can’t provide a solution. You cease to function as the customers’ advocate and become your engineering team’s advocate. This mindset harms the product. As a product manager, you are building for the customer. You should ensure your customer challenges are solved despite engineering challenges. https://bit.ly/3tMkyUL #ProductManagement #CustomerFirst #Mindset #ProblemDefinition

Who Needs Sleep When You’ve Got Features to Ship: A Day in the Life of Product and Engineering Product Manager: So... can we get this new feature launched by Friday? Engineering Manager: Oh sure, why not? We’ll just skip sleeping, eating, and maybe even physics! Time is totally optional. Product Manager: Great! While we are at it, how about adding two more features and rewriting the entire app? Engineering Manager: Perfect. I’ll get the team to clone themselves, too. That should do the trick. Product Manager: I knew you’d make it happen! So, Friday? Engineering Manager: Sure… Friday of which year again? Moral of the story: Unrealistic timelines don’t get real results.
