Attorney-General's Department’s Post

From 12 to 14 June, we attended and sponsored the biennial Australian Institute of Family Studies (AIFS) National Conference held in Melbourne. This year's event attracted over 700 key researchers, policy-makers, service providers and practitioners from Australia and internationally. The main focus of the 2024 conference was 'Families Thriving? Asking big questions. Influencing change.' The conference covered a large range of topics and provided an opportunity to reflect on how best to support Australian families in the work that we do. The Attorney-General, Mark Dreyfus KC MP, delivered a keynote address which discussed reforms to the Family Law Act and Information Sharing Act, review of the Family Relationships Services Program and work underway to end family, domestic and sexual violence. From everyone at the Australian Institute of Family Studies, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to our 2024 AIFS Conference partners, the Attorney-General's Department and the Department of Social Services (DSS). Without your support, an event of this magnitude would not have been possible. We truly couldn’t have done it without you! We are incredibly grateful for your commitment to our event and for helping us to chart a new course for the wellbeing of all kinds of families across Australia. Here's to more successful collaborations in the future! #ThankYou #Sponsorship #AIFS2024 #FamiliesThriving
