A very important position to fill … hoping to see colleagues from different backgrounds and expertise apply with a common goal to work with all stakeholder groups to strengthen the federal anti-slavery approach; experience in supporting and promoting survivor voice; and a clear understanding of, and drive to practically implement, the key international and domestic, including business and human rights, frameworks and standards we have to support cross-sectoral change. A 🦄? Maybe a 🥊 🦘? I’m sure there are at least a few. #bizhumanrights #susty #esg

The Modern Slavery Amendment (Australian Anti-Slavery Commissioner) Bill 2023 has been introduced to parliament with the intention of creating the new role of a Federal Anti-Slavery Commissioner. This new role is intended to engage with and support victims and survivors of modern slavery and support businesses to better address risks of modern slavery practices in their operations and supply chains. The Commissioner will also play a key role in shaping future modern slavery reforms, including those which may arise from the Government’s recent review of the Modern Slavery Act 2018.

The three most pressing justice problems in Uganda are Land, Crime, and Divorce and Separation according to the 2020 Justice Needs and Satisfaction Survey (JNS). The JNS findings offer strong support for the innovation directions set by justice leaders and suggest support mechanisms for the Local Council Courts system and formal courts, among others. #JusticeInnovation #UserFriendlyJustice #AccessToJustice More findings in the JNS https://lnkd.in/d38skteM LASPNET Uganda Justice Centres Uganda

Did you know? 17,000 adults and children were identified as potential victims of modern slavery in the UK in 2022, a 33% increase from the previous year. (Source: The Centre for Social Justice) The true number is estimated to be much higher, with some organizations suggesting up to 100,000 people trapped in modern slavery in the UK. (Source: Anti-Slavery International) Modern slavery takes many forms, from forced labour and exploitation to sexual exploitation and domestic servitude. It can happen anywhere, even in the UK. We are committed to eliminating modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and similar human rights abuses. #modernslavery

"Who are IJM?" 🤔 we hear you asking. Well, IJM stands for ‘International Justice Mission’. We’re a global organisation working to protect people in poverty from violence and slavery. Over 4 billion people live outside the protection of the rule of law, which is why IJM works with police and partners with local authorities to strengthen justice systems and local law enforcement. In turn, laws are enforced which protect people from violence and slavery. 🚔 We have seen slavery reduced by up to 86% in places where we've worked. Slavery and violence are stoppable. Our global teams of lawyers, investigators and social workers won't stop #UntilAllAreFree. Join the movement as a Freedom Partner to stop slavery and bring freedom: IJMUK.org/freedom
