U.S. film and TV production Down 40% from Peak : Report Via ProdPro Film and TV production isn’t coming back to pre-2022 levels anytime soon, according to ProdPro. Production in the U.S. was down 40% in Q2 2024 compared to peak-TV levels in 2022. Global production in Q2 was down by 20% compared to 2022. Domestic film and TV shoots were up 30% in Q2 compared to 2023, but the numbers are skewed by production shutdowns in the wake of the Hollywood writers’ strike from May to September 2023. TV and film production slow to rebound from strikes. Television and film production worldwide was down 7% from 2023 levels in the first quarter of 2024, as production has not fully rebounded after the strikes in 2024, research from ProdPro shows. ProdPro reports that "a significant number" of TV series and feature films are being developed now and are expected to begin production in the third and fourth quarters.
