HCC-1 is increased in atherosclerotic plaque and serum in patients with atherosclerosis. HCC-1 accelerates atherosclerotic burden in vivo and induces endothelial cells and macrophages pyroptosis in vitro. The serum HCC-1 may serve as a biomarker for the early diagnosis and stratification of atherosclerosis https://lnkd.in/g3KYaU6V

High rates of pathological complete response (pCR) have been reported with taxane- and anthracycline-sparing regimens in high-risk, #EarlyBreastCancer at #ESMO24. In the I-SPY 2.2 trial, #neoadjuvant therapy with the antibody–drug conjugate (#ADC) datopotamab deruxtecan and durvalumab achieved a pCR rate of 79% in patients with immune-positive signatures and 62% in those with HR-ve/HER2-ve #BreastCancer. Tumour signatures were based on factors such as immune response, DNA repair deficiency, and HR and HER2 status. 📌Find out more on the #ESMODailyReporter https://ow.ly/uG2a50Tnr8U

Measurement of urinary #CD4+ T cells may predict renal relapse in #ANCA-associated #vasculitis more accurately as widely available biomarkers, such as ANCA titers, proteinuria/albuminuria, and hematuria. The addition of PR3-ANCA to urinary CD4+ T lymphocytes yield better diagnostic accuracy and may contribute to personalized treatment approaches in ANCA-glomerulonephritis. 🔗https://lnkd.in/dQXWnYVF

The significance of liquid biopsies (LBs) as a non-invasive diagnostic method in PCa. LBs can find cellular, molecular, and metabolomic biomarkers that predict the aggressiveness of PCa and metastasis and prognosis during treatment. Further, LB can identify PCa from other indolent diseases and monitor and predict the response to anticancer therapy. https://lnkd.in/dhTDFzTz

Effectiveness of PD-1/PD-L1 treatments is limited by lack of reliable biomarkers for therapeutic response. Here, scRNA and Omniscope’s TCR repertoire sequencing were combined to explore clonal expansion of NSCLC patients undergoing anti-PDL1 therapy. The data showed that responders exhibit localized clonal expansion within specific subpopulations compared to non-responders, where the clonal expansion exhibits a broader distribution across various populations. 🗞️ Read more: https://lnkd.in/d9neC2vT #ScienceIsWeAll #NSCLC #biomarkers

Despite high complete response rates, relapses occur in a large fraction of patients; some of these are antigen-negative and others are antigen-low. Unlike the mechanisms that result in complete and permanent antigen loss, those that lead to escape of antigen-low tumours remain unclear. The research shows that CARs provoke reversible antigen loss through trogocytosis, an active process in which the target antigen is transferred to T cells. This both decreases target density on tumour cells and also abates T cell activity by promoting fratricidal T cell killing and T cell exhaustion.

We combined mass spectrometry phosphoproteomics with machine learning to predict the response to midostaurin combined with chemotherapy in acute myeloid leukaemia. Now our findings have been published in The Lancet's eBioMedicine! Here's what we found 👇 When we applied our phosphoproteomic stratification methods to 2 independent retrospective real-world patient test cohorts, we found it greatly outperformed the current 𝘍𝘓𝘛3 status-based stratification method for midostaurin combined with intensive chemotherapy (MIC) treatment. Arran Dokal, CTO of Kinomica says "This work has wide-ranging implication in AML and beyond. For AML, the predictive model presented can be used to better identify patients that would benefit from MIC treatment, and could have utility for patients who are currently ineligible for MIC treatment due to lack of mutations in 𝘍𝘓𝘛3." INM-901 May Address Multiple Pathologies Related to #Alzheimer’s Disease "InMed’s in vitro and in vivo studies demonstrated encouraging effects in a well-characterized Alzheimer’s disease preclinical model. In this study, InMed’s INM-901 demonstrated neuroprotective effects by reducing cell death in an amyloid-beta-induced cytotoxicity study and demonstrated an ability to promote the growth and extension of neurites (#neuritogenesis), an essential component of cell-to-cell communication. INM-901 also demonstrated reduced neuroinflammation and showed improvement in behavior, cognitive function and memory in in vivo studies. These promising early data of INM-901 represent the potential for disease-modifying effects as well as the potential to reverse neuronal damage associated with #Alzheimers disease."
