Republic Day is more than just a public holiday; it is a day of national pride and reflection. It symbolizes the country's full control over its destiny and its ability to govern itself without external influence. #HappyRepublicDay #TrinidadandTobago #TrinidadTobago #Trinidad #Tobago #TriniToDeBone #Trinbago #Trinbagonian https://lnkd.in/eu6aa8Rv

Stability, and Continuity, are hallmarks of the civilization of China.. Their names for events and sights that we take for granted (or dread) roll off the tongue like honey, in Mandarin.. https://lnkd.in/gv8F87Jb

I have in the past few days listened to the speeches of many leaders at the #UN. I have not listened to all, but from the ones I did listen to, so far I have not come across any that is more human then this one. Change is a simple yet complicated idea. simple because it is simply moving from one state of being to another, difficult because with it comes friction. Friction is conflict, and we see enough of that today not only in geopolitics, but also in domestic politics worldwide. Change is happening whether we like it or not. The conflict exist between those who fight to maintain the status quo and those who seek to dismantle it. My hope is simple, that when the change has occurred, because it will occur, as the only two constants in life is change and death, that it is a change that finally adopts the idea of #UBUNTU. What is that you ask..? Simply put: I AM BECAUSE WE ARE. #NOTOWAR https://lnkd.in/erEk_G3V

To a certain extent, I agree that Western civilization in the last few hundred years has been the pinnacle of human civilization. Yes, Western civilization was not perfect, but it was better than all that came before it. However, we are living in an age of extreme jeopardy. We have several nuclear-armed superpowers, one of which is extremely militant and taking great risks in antagonizing Russia and China. We face an existential crisis in climate change, which requires the cooperation of the entire world, including the USA, to fully mitigate. Western civilization is failing us in both these aspects. The unipolar international order is a threat to the world. The rise of China and the creation of a new multipolar world order offer a way out of this dilemma. China is a peaceful nation; it has fought no wars since 1979. In fact, for the last 2,000 years or so as a unified nation state, China has never behaved like the Europeans. China did not conquer and colonize distant lands. Even when the Mongols invaded all the way to the front steps of Europe, China did not follow suit. Even when the Ming Dynasty sent its fleet of 300 ships (the largest navy in the world at the time) all the way to the East coast of Africa, China took no territory. When the Emperor Qin Shi Huang built the Great Wall, it was to keep out barbarian invaders, not to enable China to pursue conquest. Until the turn of the 20th century, China was the economic superpower of the world. Nevertheless, China could not be compared with the British Empire, nor the American Empire that followed. There is no reason to believe that modern China will behave differently. The new multipolar world order represented by BRICS is strongly founded on peaceful trade. It will not be undergirded by militarism like the US-led international order is. Konstantin is wrong and Yanis is right.
