//HOW CAMPERIZING TAKES YOUR TRAVEL EXPERIENCE TO ANOTHER LEVEL We were deeply impressed when coming across this video by VanCubic. It looks like magic how any L2H2 van can be transformed into a camper within just one hour. How e.g. a vehicle normally used for deliveries gives you maximum freedom for traveling. Isn’t it amazing how this innovation enhances people’s lives by repurposing something you use in your daily business as you like? With modules that can be installed and removed in "no“ time? We actually think that mobility needs flexibility, too. That’s what we particularly like about the solutions offered by VanCubic. ——— This is how we de-risk innovations and investments in one week only: https://lnkd.in/eq4TvNC4 #innovation #storytelling #traveling #mobility #customerexperience #sustainability

EASY NIGHT, EASY RIDE Many people may know about Vietnam through the film 'The Cyclo,' which depicts the harsh lives of pedal-taxi drivers and highlights various social challenges. Others may perceive riding a cyclo as a symbol of colonialism or tourist exploitation. For us, we view the cyclo or cycling as a metaphor, a symbol of a wheel of giving and receiving. Besides pioneering the creation of a foodie tour by cyclo in Hue, we also substitute cyclos for those who cannot cycle during our rural immersion experiences, all without compromising the essence of slow travel and low carbon emissions. More importantly, we aspire to provide cyclo drivers with decent jobs filled with friendliness, understanding, and respect. They deserve a fair income instead of tirelessly chasing tourists or bearing an unfavorable reputation. If you get to know the cyclo drivers well, you'll understand the challenges they face if not offering services to tourists. I can't forget the feeling of powerlessness I experienced when I reunited with our team of cyclo drivers during the COVID-19 pandemic. A small aid couldn't alleviate their struggles during that challenging time. Riding the cyclo is their profession, and they take pride in being economically independent, serving as spontaneous guides and friendly representatives of Hue, connecting with tourists from afar. So, the question isn't whether we should or should not ride the cyclo, but how we can make a conscious choice and turn it into a force for good. 🚲🌍 Sustainable Commuting: Lessons from Helsinki and Amsterdam In the quest for Net Zero, the journeys we take to work are not just about the destination but the footprint we leave behind. Helsinki and Amsterdam, two pioneers in sustainable urban mobility (according to Urban Mobility Readiness Index 2023), provide compelling blueprints for reducing Scope 3 Category 7 emissions through innovative commuting practices. 💡 Helsinki’s Holistic Approach: Helsinki championing sustainable transport with expanded car-free areas, robust cycling paths, and a push for 30% of all vehicles to be electric by 2030. The city is also at the forefront of autonomous vehicle technology, illustrating its holistic approach to eco-friendly urban travel. 🚲 Amsterdam’s Cycling Revolution: Amsterdam sets the standard for urban cycling and electric vehicle adoption. With ambitious plans to have cycling comprise 35% of all city travel by 2030 and a target of over 80,000 electric vehicle charging points, Amsterdam is on a fast track to eliminating fossil fuel transport. Amsterdam also focuses on enhancing public transit accessibility and increasing pedestrian spaces to encourage more diverse modes of sustainable urban travel, ensuring all city residents can navigate efficiently and safely. Both cities showcase how community engagement and technology can streamline the transition to sustainable commuting. More: https://lnkd.in/d2M_w_z 🤝 Join the Movement: Inspired by Helsinki and Amsterdam, let’s redefine our daily commutes. 🚴♂️ Accelerating Micromobility in Portugal with CycleAI 🌍 In a recent interview at the Portugal Mobi Summit, Bernardo Pereira, the sustainable mobility expert at Lisbon E-Nova, raised a critical concern. Portugal's investment in cycling infrastructure is a mere 30 cents per inhabitant, the lowest in the EU. This underinvestment, highlighted by Pereira, poses a challenge to the nation's carbon neutrality goals. While Lisbon has made strides in sustainability, crucial links are still missing, hindering the city's ambition to become truly bike-friendly. Nationally, the situation is even more concerning, contributing to a skewed mobility system where individual car use takes precedence. Pereira stresses the need to rebalance the system, advocating for active mobility, especially cycling, and efficient rail transport. Despite the challenges, he asserts that enabling short cycling journeys in cities is crucial. Where does CycleAI fit in? 🚀 CycleAI can play a pivotal role in addressing these challenges. By leveraging data-driven insights, we can help municipalities identify key areas for cycling infrastructure development. Our technology can optimize micromobility networks, enhancing accessibility and encouraging sustainable transport choices. Together, let's pedal towards a greener, more connected future! 🌱🚴♀️ #Micromobility #SustainableTransport #PortugalMobiSummit #CycleAI

As one of the new users of the Mevo 2.0 back in September, I certainly saw the value of Gdansk's #bikeshare system. I thoroughly enjoyed my day biking with Michał Jamroż (on one of their #ebikes) all the way to Sopot. It is impressive to see how many unique first-time #bikeshare users Mevo was able to attract by making the system free from September to November. As they entire the expected chargeable phase of their bikeshare system, I too hope that people see the ongoing value their fleet provides. "Whilst I don’t think it’s a big source of revenue for the City Hall, tendered bikeshare systems are usually seen as complementary to the public #transport system. The benefits that it gives the city are that it’s environmentally friendly, cars are taken off the streets, and citizens are also given the alternative of active #mobility options subsidised by the City Hall." "This is a trend that’s been happening all over Europe. The authorities of Tricty are basically positioning the region as one of the #leadingcities in which Europeans can move to and work from because they have alternatives and they have subsidised #publictransport.” #sustainablemobility #promotion #activetravel #transportation #mobilityforesight Kind regards, Dale Principal, Mobility Foresight https://lnkd.in/g6PyZBaZ

Continuation of my posts on the insights from my latest publication, which is on the #SharedMobility and #MobilityasaService (#MaaS) platforms. This week, I will continue to focus on the #travel #behaviour related #insights and the #related #policy #measures. This is the fourth part and I will summarise the aspects related to the possession of #public #transport #pass. ✅ PT pass possession #positively #influences the use of #BikeSharing and #CarSharing, while a #negative #relationship is observed for #RideHailing. This can mean that car-sharing and bike-sharing services #complement PT, while ride-hailing does not seem to. ✅ Consequently, car-sharing and bike-sharing services can be #integrated well with PT. Discount for PT pass holders or a multimodal app (i.e., a MaaS platform) combining PT and shared mobility services could be advantageous. Especially, targeting young PT pass holders may bring an attitudinal change at young age and stop them from getting attracted towards private cars at a later stage of life. ✅ Since ride-hailing has a #substitutional effect, it might be beneficial to introduce them in areas where #PT is #weak (i.e., to reinforce the PT system). PT authorities can form #partnerships with ride-hailing service providers to offer customized services to passengers, especially for those with special needs. ✅ It is to be noted that service providers may not be interested in achieving better travel accessibility and equity, and an #interventionist #approach might be required. Measures, such as introduction of penalties and implementation of service restrictions for defaulters and certifying good operators, may be explored to push the operators towards the intended results.
