You could easily have missed it, but Audi just finally revealed a forgotten hypercar concept that it never managed to put into production. The almost-mythical R10 was originally planned to top the firm's sports range, slotting in above the beloved R8. However, the German brand has since admitted that it quietly scrapped the project back in 2013. The model, also known as the Scorpion, had been due to make use of a revolutionary diesel-electric mixed powertrain to lay down its immense power. Specs were never confirmed but that sort of juice could easily put it over 200mph. Now it seems the Scorpion, or at least elements of it, could be due for a comeback as Audi looks to expand into electric supercars. A report from Autocar suggests that the concept could be blended with tech from the firm's upcoming 2026 entry into F1 to create something brand new. It would match similar projects already undertaken by its soon-to-be rivals on the grid, including Aston Martin, Mercedes and Red Bull. Audi has ended production of its iconic R8 supercar after a 17-year run, with the final high-performance variant rolling off the assembly line in Germany.  The last model features a 5.2-liter V10 engine producing 612 bhp and will be preserved at Audi's museum. Initially powered by a V8, the R8 later adopted a V10 engine from the Lamborghini Gallardo.  Despite modest sales, the R8 gained acclaim for its performance and innovation since its 2007 debut. The R8 GT RWD is the latest version of the legendary car that was launched last year, and surprisingly, demand for it has doubled in the United States of America. Audi has published its full sales results for the year just ended, revealing some interesting statistics R8 deliveries rose 101 percent, to 631 cars in 2023, compared to the previous year when just 314 people bought one. Looking back in time, Audi moved 649 R8s in 2021, 581 in 2020, 574 in 2019, 927 in 2018, and 772 in 2017. The New-generation A4 has been rebadged as the A5 to align with Audi's updated naming system. Audi’s all-new A5 is the first internal combustion model to follow the company's updated nomenclature system. Under this new scheme, odd numbers signify internal combustion vehicles, while even numbers are reserved for electric ones. Therefore, although the badge reads A5—previously the designation for the Coupe and Sportback variants of the outgoing A4—the new generation model is actually a direct replacement for the outgoing A4 sedan and estate.
