Have you discovered your Purpose? I recently shared ways to Find Meaning & Fulfillment at Work with LVL Wellbeing and as it is the start of a brand new month, I wanted to share three key takeaways with you. Let me know which one resonates most: 👉Turn NO into knowing” - Mel Robbins. Use personal challenges and set backs as your fuel to inspire positive change. What keeps you up at night and what pain point can you solve through your product and offering? 👉”The friend test” - Simon Sinek. Ask 3-5 of your closest friends WHY they’re friends with you. After asking a few times (it might seem awkward at first, but keep going), they will say something that sheds light on how you make them feel and what you bring to their life- that special something that is your unique gift. 👉”Ikigai” the Japanese concept that brings together what you love, what the world needs, what you are good at, and what you can monetize to find the intersection between them. Each of these pathways are simply that, an evolving process and journey of self-discovery. We can take learnings from every day, and experience, even the not so good ones. What learnings will you take into the next half of the year? And how can you get closer to living your purpose? Here’s a picture of me in my favorite colour, advocating for sustainable and concious working cultures to enable People, Purpose and Performance. 💜💪 #employeeengagement #wellbeing #culture Lorna Jane The Giving Movement

Often, people stick to routine tasks because it's familiar and comfortable, even if it doesn't yield results. But every individual possesses unique creative abilities. By actively engaging these senses, we sharpen them. To break free from monotony, injecting creativity into daily tasks, whether professional or personal, is key. Here are a few points on why unleashing creativity in everyday life matters. Professional Excellence: Creativity serves as a guiding force in problem-solving and idea generation within the workplace. It fosters innovation, propelling us beyond the confines of routine tasks to explore new possibilities. From brainstorming sessions to presentations, creativity adds flair and effectiveness to our professional endeavors. Family Connection: Creativity enriches family life by infusing everyday activities with joy and wonder. Crafting imaginative experiences, such as bedtime stories or playful adventures, strengthens familial bonds. Creative approaches to chores and activities foster shared excitement and deepen connections among family members. Personal Fulfillment: Engaging in creative pursuits nurtures our inner selves and promotes holistic well-being. Activities like painting, writing, or gardening provide avenues for self-expression and rejuvenation. Embracing creativity in self-care rituals fosters a sense of fulfillment and celebrates our unique passions and talents. Universal Catalyst: Creativity transcends roles and responsibilities, enriching every aspect of our lives. Infusing curiosity, ingenuity, and joy into each moment transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary. By unleashing our creative spirits, we embrace endless possibilities and embark on a journey of self-discovery and growth. In essence, creativity empowers us to navigate life's complexities with imagination and innovation, transforming each moment into an opportunity for connection, fulfillment, and boundless exploration. #creativity #innovation #selfdiscovery #growth #possibilities #breakthemonotomy #outofthebox #thinkdifferent #stimulatesenses #creativeactivities #creativeideas

🌟 "Between stimulus and response, there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response." - Viktor E. Frankl 🌟 In the whirlwind of our professional lives, it's easy to slip into autopilot, reacting impulsively to challenges and changes. But often, these automatic reactions don't lead us to the outcomes we desire – or deserve. 💡 This is where the profound insight of Viktor E. Frankl offers us a powerful reminder. We have a space – a precious interval – that holds the key to transforming our reactions into thoughtful responses. And this is where breathwork, a tool I passionately advocate and practice, becomes invaluable. 🍃 Breathwork isn't just a technique for stress relief; it's a gateway to expanding that crucial space between stimulus and response. By practicing breathwork, we train ourselves to pause, to become aware of our automatic tendencies, and to choose a different, more constructive path. This heightened awareness can significantly alter our workplace interactions and decisions, steering us away from unproductive habits and towards more thoughtful, intentional actions. 🔄 Consider how often our knee-jerk reactions are based on outdated patterns that no longer serve us. By recognizing these patterns through mindful breathwork, we open up new possibilities for growth and success – not just for ourselves but for our teams and organizations. 💼 As a coach with extensive corporate experience, I've seen the transformative impact of integrating breathwork into professional development. It's about moving beyond mere survival in the workplace to thriving through conscious, deliberate choices. 🌱 Imagine a work environment where every decision is made not out of habit or haste, but from a place of calm, clarity, and intention. This is the power of expanding that space between stimulus and response. And it's within our reach through the practice of breathwork. #MindfulLeadership #BreathworkInBusiness #EmotionalIntelligence #ConsciousDecisionMaking #ProfessionalGrowth #BreathAtWork

🌟 𝐄𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 🌟 Have you ever had one of those moments when time seemed to stand still and you were completely immersed in what you were doing? That’s the flow state, a key element in the second component of the PERMA model of well-being: Engagement. (ICYMI, I'll be writing about this model of well-being all week!) Engagement is more than just participating; it’s about going deeper into activities that captivate and challenge us. When we find flow, we tap into a higher level of focus and creativity, making work feel less like... well, work. I've experienced flow by accident a handful of times; maybe you have, too. But you don't have to stumble into flow—there's a science to it. Here are some tips: 🎯 𝐒𝐞𝐭 𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐠𝐨𝐚𝐥𝐬: Know what you aim to achieve. ⚖️ 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬: Find that sweet spot between too easy and too hard. 🔃 𝐆𝐞𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤: You want to be able to see results and respond in the moment. 👁️ 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐳𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬. 🕰️✨ Discovering Clarity in Five Minutes ⏳ Amidst the hustle and bustle of a busy day, I stumbled upon a transformative practice that redefined productivity for me. Setting aside the noise of notifications and tasks, I embraced a moment of stillness. With an hourglass on my desk, I chose to invest five minutes in uninterrupted contemplation. It was a deliberate pause—a chance to let thoughts flow freely without the weight of deadlines or distractions. Those five minutes, though fleeting, became a sanctuary of calm amidst the chaos. They offered clarity, direction, and a renewed sense of purpose. In that short span, I found solutions and a refreshed perspective. Sometimes, it's not the hours of work that define our productivity but the quality of moments we carve out for introspection. Let's acknowledge the power of mindful pauses in shaping our most impactful decisions and endeavors. #Productivity #MindfulWork #Clarity #ProfessionalDevelopment #ReflectivePause 🌟🧘♂️✨

𝗗𝗼𝘄𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲: 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 “So many of us define ourselves by what we do. We overdo, overwork, and overproduce. In our culture, ‘downtime’ can sound like a dirty word.” - Psychologist Scott Bea, PsyD https://cle.clinic/3Klht2p Sound familiar? This quote complements the thoughts I shared last week about stepping out of our daily routines to foster creativity, innovation, and problem-solving. I was inspired by an article from the Cleveland Clinic, shared with me by healthcare educator, author, and fellow James Madison University alum Karen Rothenberger. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲: 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘤𝘩 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘣𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘬𝘴 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘮𝘰𝘰𝘥, 𝘣𝘰𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘢𝘺 𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯. So, take your dog for a 10-minute walk. Enjoy some spring wildflowers. Sit outside on your patio for a few minutes between endless Zoom calls. Walk to dinner on your next business trip. Giving your brain a break will make you better both on and off the job! (Yes, the first tip for finding time to take a break is to schedule it. Sometimes, that’s exactly what it takes to make it happen!) #womeninleadership #womeinbusiness #leadership #inspiration #productivity #breaktime #selfcare #mentalhealth #creativity #innovation #jmu #GoDukes

THE EMOTIONAL CULTURE COACH - Helping individuals, leaders and workplaces to emotionally flourish and build resilience in an ever changing world.
WANT TO KNOW A SIMPLE WAY TO CREATE A HAPPIER, HIGH PERFORMING WORKPLACE? Explore and make space for the unpleasant emotions that people may be feeling. Make it safe for people to express all of the undesired funky feels, acknowledge them and look at what wisdom they provide around areas that need to change or be prioritised. It sounds like a paradox - how could exploring the unpleasant emotions lead to more happiness? Here's 2 reasons 1️⃣ EXPRESSION & DIGESTION: It allows people to process those emotions safely rather than waste energy sucking them down which affects their wellbeing, performance and happiness. When people are given space to express their difficult emotions, they are more able to process them and feel supported to move forward. 2️⃣ INSIGHT INTO ACTION: It gives you insight on areas that need to change to support people to feel happier. Those unpleasant emotions are like the warning light on your organisational dashboard telling you something is wrong in your engine (that engine being your people). If you fail to acknowledge, allow and investigate your emotional culture warning signals, then at some point your organisational machine is going to breakdown. #emotions #emotionsatwork #emotionalintelligence #culture #change 👋 hi I’m lotty- I’m on a mission to help organisations build emotional wisdom and mindful resilience into how they roll, to enable them to successfully navigate this complex, frantic and ever changing world.
