The Audi RS Q e-tron* wins the Dakar Rally! This morning there was huge applause in our “living room” here in Neuburg when Carlos Sainz and Lucas Cruz reached the finish line of the final stage of the 2024 Dakar Rally and AUDI AG wrote another chapter in motorsport history with the historic first Dakar victory of a prototype with an alternative drive system. We have followed the Dakar Rally with great interest over the last two weeks and have kept our fingers crossed for Audi Sport and the entire Dakar project team. The reason is simple: a large part of our staff in the Audi F1 project consists of former Dakar project team members. They were responsible for the development of the highly sophisticated Audi RS Q e-tron, which has now been victorious in the extremely demanding environment of the Dakar Rally. According to our CTO Stefan Dreyer, the Audi RS Q e-tron is the most technically complex and advanced competition vehicle ever developed at Audi Sport. The drive is purely electric. Two motor-generator units (MGU) – each from the Audi Formula E project – drive the front and rear axles. A third MGU is part of an energy converter that charges the high-voltage battery while driving thanks to the highly efficient TFSI engine from the DTM. Developing such a complex prototype vehicle requires highly qualified technical experts, and we are proud to have them as part of our project team as we take on the next challenge: Formula 1. #Audi #FutureIsAnAttitude #Formula1 #motorsport #technology --- * This vehicle shown here is the Rally Dakar vehicle that is not available as a production model. Closed course, professional driver. Do not attempt.

Congratulations Audi – very well deserved. Resilience, performance and team spirit win a Dakar race. Mr. Al-Attiyah #Prodrive had his „special“ moment before the race even started when he bitched about Audi in a haughty interview – he predicted that Audi would retire this year’s Dakar after only 3 days. During the race he had another moment of „attention“ when he refused to continue driving his car and potentially help Sebastian Loeb to win the race. Fortunately arrogance is not an attitude to win or become a legend of the Dakar race. Mr. Al-Attiyah, reflect, regret, apologize and change or retire. Audi should be very proud of adding the Dakar win to their remarkable track record of racing by adopting the attitudes of what it takes to win

Great achievement from Carlos, really team spirit, Carlos could count on the help of Peterhansel and Ekstrom as it was clear that he was the only one with a chance of winning. As Carlos said, this e-tron was the best Audi for the Dakar. Congratulations
