Thinking out loud! Excited to share my passion for public health and the power of humor in navigating complex health-related issues. As a public health specialist and public speaker, I've made it my mission to be a voice of reason for the voiceless. In my postgraduate studies, I've learned that health concerns are not just about the individual but also the larger community. That's why I believe in using my platform to educate and inform people on health-related issues. In the featured TV interview below, I discuss how humor can be a strategic tool in breaking down complicated health topics. National Public Health Week (NPHW) is a time to recognize the invaluable contributions of public health professionals and the importance of collective action in creating healthier communities. This week, NPHW highlights the critical role that public health plays in promoting wellness and preventing disease. This year's theme, "Building Bridges to Better Health," emphasizes the need for collaboration across sectors to address the diverse health challenges facing our society. Whether it's tackling disparities in access to healthcare, advocating for policies that promote healthy environments, or promoting mental health awareness, NPHW encourages us to work together towards a common goal of improving health outcomes for all. As we celebrate National Public Health Week, let's renew our commitment to building healthier communities. I had the privilege recently of being an invited speaker on a UK Faculty of Public Health webinar where I got to share the knowledge and skills I hold around policy engagement and impact. Over 60 people attended the online session, which was focused on 'smoking and vaping: impact on children and young people'. I was invited in for the second part to help clinicians turn their evidence, experience and research into policy change, including a light touch overview of how to write a policy brief. I loved putting this session together, the feedback was great and I can't wait to find more opportunities to do it again! #policy #policyimpact #research #engagement #policychange #policyinfluence
