We have ambitious goals to improve economic and environmental performance for those living in and farming in the Rangitīkei district. There are approximately 2,800 farms in the catchment area, which covers approximately 700,000 hectares. We’d love to help as many landowners as possible; however, funding is our biggest obstacle in scaling our efforts. We’re incredibly grateful to our valued partners, past and present, who have helped us get to where we are today. As any farmer can tell you, there’s always more work to be done. We’re keen to work with others who can enable us to expand our efforts and ensure our sub-catchment groups have the support and resources to achieve their long-term goals. Current environmental restoration projects we're seeking support for include; protecting and restoring habitats for native Whio (blue duck) and Dwarf Galaxiid fish populations, protecting native bush remnants, continuing to monitor water quality with macroinvertebrate and eDNA water sampling and analysis and establishing a community nursery to grow natives or poplar poles.
