The White House recently issued a policy statement and principles emphasizing the importance of voluntary carbon markets and provided a framework to identify and purchase high-quality carbon credits. Included in the Administration's Principles for Responsible Participation are standards for credit generators to develop carbon projects that represent real decarbonization and support tangible co-benefits, such as biodiversity. This framework deeply aligns with Aurora's commitment to provide transparent, high-integrity solutions while conserving American forestland. Learn more about our work: https://lnkd.in/gnxQi_xi

**Why Nature-Based Solutions Projects Excel in Carbon Credits** Nature-based solutions (NbS) projects are increasingly recognized for their effectiveness in generating carbon credits due to several key factors: 1. **Ecosystem Restoration**: NbS projects, such as reforestation and wetland restoration, enhance natural carbon sinks, sequestering significant amounts of CO2 from the atmosphere. 2. **Biodiversity Benefits**: These projects not only capture carbon but also promote biodiversity, leading to healthier ecosystems that can better withstand climate change impacts. 3. **Community Engagement**: NbS often involve local communities, ensuring sustainable practices and fostering stewardship, which enhances project longevity and success. 4. **Cost-Effectiveness**: Compared to technological solutions, NbS can be more cost-effective, providing a dual benefit of carbon sequestration and ecosystem services. 5. **Regulatory Support**: Increasing recognition by governments and organizations of the importance of NbS in climate strategies leads to favorable policies and funding opportunities. In summary, nature-based solutions are a win-win for carbon credits, offering environmental, social, and economic benefits while effectively combating climate change. We are thrilled to attend this event and engage with fellow advocates of nature-based solutions, sharing insights and exploring collaborative opportunities to further enhance the impact of these vital projects. Together, we can drive meaningful change in the fight against climate change.

What makes carbon credits “additional?” A reduction in greenhouse gasses is only considered additional if it would not have occurred in the absence of the program to create carbon credits. For example, credits from a forest where logging is not an option aren’t additional – those forests wouldn’t be harvested anyway. NativState is focused on working with landowners in states with vast timber and wood products industries. By providing these landowners with an attractive alternative to aggressively harvesting their timber, we are creating truly additional carbon credits. 🌲 We are thrilled to announce our partnership with the Equitable Earth Coalition! Equitable Earth is a new forest carbon standard that is pioneering a revolutionary shift for the voluntary carbon market to prioritize forest communities and Global South Countries. Focused on ending tropical deforestation, Equitable Earth guides the development of community-led forest conservation projects to unlock climate finance directly to Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities. We could not be more proud to be Equitable Earth's exclusive provider of digital monitoring, reporting and verification (dMRV) of forest carbon data and are thrilled that direct biomass estimation is becoming the highest standard for carbon accounting. It marks another significant milestone, not only for us, but also for the voluntary carbon market and to foster trust in high-quality forest conservation projects. “Much like Equitable Earth, Chloris Geospatial is also founded on transparency, robust science and rigorous due diligence. We look forward to delivering innovative, science-based data and analysis for this new forest carbon standard.” - Marco Albani, Chloris CEO and Co-Founder. This is a bit of 'pinch yourself moment'. If you asked me a couple years ago how I was going to translate a passion for the natural world into positive climate action I wouldn't have had a very good answer. Fast forward a couple years and here we are! Lets face it, in the climate sector we're faced with a lot of bad news and anxiety-inducing science, making it even more important to celebrate the wins. Importantly, this not just a win for Chloris Geospatial and Equitable Earth, it's a win for indigenous communities, the voluntary carbon market in general, and hopefully every tree and animal that will be protected as a result of this work. 🌳 #vcm #climatechange

💰 Carbon credits are one of the mechanisms for investing in Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) projects. NBS are projects that work with ecosystems such as forests, grasslands, wetlands, and coastal zones, and that improve agricultural sustainability. These NBS projects absorb CO2 or prevent the release of greenhouse gases, while also delivering benefits to local communities and biodiversity of the area. 🌱 Each tonne of CO2 stored or avoided by a project generates one credit, which can be sold to help fund the project as it continues to protect, sustainably manage and restore nature. 📈 According to Ecosystem Marketplace, there are more than 170 types of projects that provide carbon offsets to date. They fall under eight categories as shown in the visual. What are your thoughts on Carbon Credits? Learn more about NBS projects: https://lnkd.in/gJ87h-B #NatureBasedSolutions
