It's official: metal hydrides technology will support the port of Duisburg in Germany. 🇩🇪 In an innovative collaboration, Fraunhofer UMSICHT, duisport - Duisburger Hafen AG and GKN Hydrogen are investigating the application of metal hydride hydrogen storage as part of the recently won European HYINPORT project. The aim is to implement this technology in the port of Duisburg using green electricity for electrolysis. With this method, hydrogen can be stored safely and economically using a metal lattice structure for chemical bonding. The project aims to integrate metal hydride hydrogen storage into the port's infrastructure, enhancing energy efficiency and sustainability. This initiative is a step towards transforming Duisburg port into a hub for green energy, utilizing metal hydrides. I have been to several LNG stations and I can say, that as a low carbon product it finds an important place in freight transport.

Our team meets 🤝 the South Tyrolean #genZ in Bruneck-Brunico. At the Bruneck-Brunico technical secondary school (TFO) for the "Job - Safari Day", a GKN Hydrogen team supported the students in learning about a highly innovative technology and the meaningfulness and future-orientation of jobs in the energy sector. During the afternoon, students had the opportunity to meet local companies, which in turn can present their technology, way of working, vision, mission and purpose. 👩💻⚙️ Students participated in direct interaction with Alex Puff, Thomas Canins, Lisa Elzenbaumer, to clarify any questions they had about practical work situations, application processes, job prospects and other matters at GKN Hydrogen. We introduced them to the working world of the sustainability and energy industry and showed them how extraordinary projects and storage solutions were successfully launched on the world market.
