Recently, FreshMenu encountered a significant security issue when a MongoDB instance was publicly exposed without password protection. They swiftly resolved this issue within a couple of days, however, the incident still garnered media attention. A major challenge for organizations in such scenarios is the inability to determine whether the exposed data was actually exfiltrated. Such instances are not one-off, and this is increasingly going to be a pain point with the advent of DPDPA. While companies need time to investigate data leaks, they are also obligated to inform users and authorities about breaches within specified deadlines. Furthermore, non-compliance could lead to substantial fines. We at Aurva, not just help companies by notifying about any exposed DBs containing PII data, but we also inform about potential exfiltrations and data flows in real time.
