September 13th marks World Sepsis Day, dedicated to raising awareness of sepsis — a life-threatening condition that claims a life every few seconds. Despite ongoing research, there is still no effective treatment specifically targeting the inflammatory response in this condition. The urgent need for a new drug to reduce sepsis mortality is clear. Every second counts. No time to waste

Today is World Sepsis Day. Simply defined, sepsis is the extreme reaction of the body to an infection. There is no effectve treatment for sepsis. According to the World Health Organisation, an estimated 11 million people die of sepsis every year, of which 2.9 million are children under the age of five. Every 2.8 seconds someone dies of sepsis. Having the leadership role in Matisse is a great honour and I am taking pride in the fact that we are one or the few clinical stage companies worldwide actively investing in advancing a solution for what is probably the highest unmet medical need out there. This #WorldSjögrensDay, I am proud of the work #MyCompany, Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine, is doing to deliver innovative approaches for people living with autoantibody diseases, such as Sjögren’s disease (SiD). As there are currently no treatments that address the underlying causes of SjD, many patients are left experiencing symptoms that interfere with daily activities and impact their quality of life.
