The premature passing of rugby legend Rob Burrow as a consequence of motor neuron disease, one of far too many rare and not-so-rare incurable illnesses, is a reminder of how much remains to be done therapeutically to provide all people the chance at a reasonable quality and duration of life. Millions of people still suffer from incurable illnesses, many of which strike young. Though most are not so well-known, each of these individuals’ lives, joy, and aspirations are needlessly cut short, and the misfortune sends irreversible shock waves through every one of their families and social networks. The urgency to address this need and the opportunity to have a transformative impact motivate me every day in the work that I do. Through effective use of data, I know we can collectively break through barriers in novel ways to reveal the secrets of these afflictions and develop effective therapies to renew the opportunity of life for the millions of people who are waiting. Not only can we, we must. More information about motor neuron disease and donations being accepted at: https://lnkd.in/dKhPuz2p https://lnkd.in/d3vkrnwK

Jo is one of many, many cases where if I had more kidneys, I will give again, and again. As of May 10th 2023 I joined the one bean club, and unfortunately cannot give more. Here are ways you can help Jo. - Click on the link to READ her story. I found information about my recipient buddy (we ended up in a daisy chain of 7!) Greg, through similar link / story as well. I took just 2 minutes of my time, read his story, and jumped on. - SHARE her story. For me, because someone shared Greg's link, I happen to have found it! That's it, as a start. Doesn't sound a ton of responsibility, right? Becoming a kidney advocate is not hard AT ALL! If you've read it this far, 🎉 you already are an advocate 🎉 Please, read and share their stories. Let's dive in a liiiitle bit about the kidney donation process as well. Just a bit. - You can say no ANYTIME throughout the process. You have a right to say no, and no one will judge. - If you qualify = you are HEALTHY AF. It's a good thing. That means you can take it with one kidney and keep runnin. - They will do a TON of tests (may seem dreading but trust me its great for you too) to make sure risks are minimal. AF. - Post surgery recovery is pretty darn good. I did my first comic con 3 weeks after (ok, I admit, fatigue was still there), and disney anniversary trip a month after. - They won't kick you out on the curb after surgery. You will be taken care of. Orgs like National Kidney Foundation is AMAZINGLY known to take care of the advocacy community. Most of all, I'm here for you too 😘 #kidneyadvocate #kidneydonor #donatelife #makeadifference
Our friend Jo is a fighter, but she needs YOUR help finding a living kidney donor. Please consider sharing her story, so we can reach her hero donor. Start here: https://loom.ly/CqOZkTg #OrganDonor #KidneyDonation #LivingKidneyDonor #kidneystrong #Kidney2SaveJo

We're all tied to heart disease and stroke in some way, and we must change that. Join your CREW friends, family, and co-workers to support Theo- Our Heartbreak Hero! Theo's journey began during his 20-week scan, where he was given a tough diagnosis—Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) a rare congenital heart defect where the left ventricle is severely underdeveloped. Although congenital heart defects affect 1 in 100 babies, only 1 in every 3,841 babies receives a diagnosis of HLHS. Come walk or donate to help the American Heart Association, whose support fuels research, innovation, and a collective hope for families like ours. Your contributions not only help extend the lives of these courageous children but also provide a beacon of hope for their futures. https://lnkd.in/e8hWaAaq

🆘 EMERGENCY ALERT 🆘 We have 48 hours to save a family of cats from death in a Georgia laboratory. Our investigators just uncovered an unfolding horror story in the south. And this time, it's a FAMILY OF FOUR innocent felines. The new chief cat abuser in NIH's Georgia Tech lab just purchased four felines—i.e. the "GA Four." Experiments like this could begin at any moment: - Heads CRACKED OPEN - Restraint devices SCREWED & CEMENTED into their skull. - Metal coils jammed into her EYES and BRAIN. - DEPRIVED of food & FORCED to navigate obstacles up to 120 times A DAY—she'll only get dinner IF she succeeds! Unless we block this payout, NIH's white coats will exterminate this entire feline family. Your tax bill? $430,000! 🚨 EMERGENCY: Payout # R21EY033071 is about to renew. These kitten abusers will get a FLOOD of money for a lethal lab. The GA Four Fund is a new rapid-response campaign to block payout # R21EY033071 before the next round of torture begins...in just 48 HOURS! HARD GOVT DEADLINE: please rush an emergency donation of as much as you can afford (even if it's $4—$1 for each cat) to help us end the disfigurement, stop NIH cat torture, and help FREE THE GA FOUR! https://lnkd.in/gybaZx5t Help if you can
