In the wake of the industrial revolution, our society has evolved to rely on advanced communication and decision-making tools. Now, as we automate intelligence digitally, we’re shifting the boundaries of what’s possible, akin to how mass production impacted artisanal pottery and manual typesetting. Today, while pottery and printed materials are still valued, making a living from their purely mechanical aspects is challenging. This evolution highlights the need for leaders to recognize and adapt to the changing landscape of intelligence and communication, where higher level creativity and unique contributions become key.
To navigate the advancements in intelligent systems, we must establish principles for moderate, conscious oversight and build robust trust chains. By integrating edge technologies and closed-loop systems, we can balance the need for information and process autonomy with security and enhanced user experience. Creating a psychologically safe environment, fostered by this trust, will encourage wider curiosity and creative exploration, essential for progress in this dynamic digital landscape.
We need to move beyond just talking about AI and start experiencing it.
This week, our Head of Research and Innovation, Ieva Martinkenaite, shared her thoughts at the NHO Annual Conference, a high-profile event in Norway that attracts 1,300 attendees yearly, including business leaders, public sector managers, top politicians, academics, and experts.
She emphasized the importance of taking action, not just talking about it, and how AI can create value for companies by adopting a culture of experimentation and an interdisciplinary approach that changes our mindset and behaviours – reflections I fully agree with.
Well done, Ieva! 👏
