As an Instructor this is what you spend hours and hours training officers for. To be able to plan, react and deal with scenarios that unfortunately are not isolated to one place but have been seen right across the UK and Ireland. In fact disorder is still ongoing in Belfast and those officers are stepping up in order to try and keep people safe at great risk to themselves. When you are in these situations it's the training and drills that have been done previously that ensure officers have confidence and the ability to deal with it in the most appropriate way. #staysafe #publicorder #training

We are seeing more and more courses being advertised in our sector, especially in Fire and Smoke Control Dampers, and are continually being asked “what’s the difference?” So we thought we would re-share this blog to help: https://lnkd.in/epDbGkUX When looking at courses and qualifications, now the 2010 Building Regulations have been updated, specifically for competence requirements (as of 1st October 2023), it’s important to ask: Courses delivered by an appropriately qualified and knowledgeable instructor can provide valuable knowledge and are a great addition to a qualification, but does the course alone make me legally compliant? Does the course contain National Occupational Standards (NOS) to prove competence and compliance of the individual? (The Skills and Knowledge required by law) Can the course be achieved or is it simply attendance based? Is it approved and regulated by an awarding body? Does it contain the current standards, required to prove competency for my working role? We are always happy to provide advice and guidance to anyone trying to navigate legalisation, and how it applies to them and their training needs.

Dear IFE Team, I am writing to express our deep concern and frustration regarding the blatant discrimination evident in the results of the Level 3 Diploma Fire & Safety Certificate Exam (L3D2) conducted by IFE (UK). The examination report on your website clearly highlights an alarming disparity between the pass rates in Zone 1 and Zone 2. According to the report, only 2 out of 130 candidates passed in Zone 1, resulting in a dismal pass rate of 1.5%. In stark contrast, 113 out of 148 candidates passed in Zone 2, equating to an impressive pass rate of 76%. This discrepancy is not only statistically significant but also deeply troubling. The data raises several critical questions: How is it possible that Zone 1 candidates performed so poorly compared to their Zone 2 counterparts? Why has there been no substantial response from IFE (UK) addressing this glaring disparity? Despite our continuous efforts to raise this concern, we have only received generic responses stating that "all IFE examinations go through a rigorous quality assurance procedure, with each paper reviewed by subject matter experts, an independent quality assurer, and our chief examiner. The marking scheme for each paper also goes through the same process of scrutiny." This generic response does not address the core issue of why such a significant discrepancy exists between the two zones. It is not sufficient to hide behind the veil of a purportedly rigorous quality assurance process when the results so clearly indicate a potential bias or unfairness in the examination process. We demand a thorough investigation into the root cause of this issue. It is imperative that IFE (UK) takes this matter seriously and implements corrective measures to ensure fairness and equity in the examination process. The current situation has left numerous failed students in Zone 1 feeling deeply stressed and helpless, which is unacceptable. We expect a prompt and detailed response outlining the steps IFE (UK) will take to address this issue and prevent such disparities in the future. This is not merely a request for information; it is a demand for justice and fairness for all candidates who have put in immense effort to achieve their qualifications. We look forward to your immediate and serious attention to this matter. Yours sincerely, Naveen Pal www.ife.org.uk #IFEResults #IFEUK #Discrimination #FireSafetyResult

As of now, the early stages (committee draft) of the revision are nearing completion in preparation for publishing the Draft International Standard (DIS). The working group is considering various concepts and potential changes to the standard. Each stage includes periods for review, comment, and approval, which can extend the timeline. Organisations involved in inspection activities are advised to stay informed about the revision's progress to prepare for any upcoming changes. Once the FDIS is published, IANZ will commence running one-day training courses on the new standard beginning mid-late 2025. Inspection bodies will then have a transition period of between 12 months and 3 years. Recent periods of transition have all been three years, so this is what we anticipate. A word of caution – inspection bodies that do not complete their transition by the date that is set down cannot remain accredited. Rest assured – we will keep you posted on the progress and important dates!

Compliance with Clauses 1.8 and 1.12 in RPL Kits: A Critical Component in Vocational Education and Training Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an essential mechanism in Australia's vocational education and training (VET) sector, allowing individuals to receive credit for skills and knowledge gained through work experience, training, or previous learning. Compliance with specific legislative clauses—1.8 and 1.12—ensures that Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) uphold the integrity and quality of their assessments. Understanding these clauses and their application in RPL kits is critical for maintaining the standards set by the VET quality framework...
